Jon Pardi tried to sing through it. That was the first weekend. Now there's a second. The Head Over Boots singer postponed three more shows on Wednesday, Oct. 7, telling fans on Instagram that he's "still sick with a deep chest infection" and that this weekend's run — Loveland, Colorado, West Valley City, Utah, and Nampa, Idaho — has to move. Five shows postponed across two weekends, and the Gamblin' Man Tour is officially on pause until his lungs say otherwise.
"I hate to do this, but unfortunately I'm still sick with a deep chest infection and we have to postpone our shows this weekend," Pardi wrote in the Instagram post. "Sorry to miss y'all this weekend. I'll see you in May." The brevity says plenty: this is the second postponement announcement in five days from an artist who clearly didn't want to make the first one, and the new dates tell you how long the recovery runway is. These aren't weeks-out rainchecks like the first pair — they're months.
Here's where everything went. The run was set to start Thursday, Oct. 8, at Blue FCU Arena in Loveland, Colorado. Then the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, on Oct. 9, and the Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa, Idaho, on Oct. 10. All three now move to next May: Nampa is May 8, Loveland is May 13, and West Valley City is May 20. If you had tickets, hang on to them — they'll be honored at the new dates, and refunds are available at your point of purchase. "I'll see you in May," he wrote, and for fans in Colorado, Utah and Idaho, May it is.

This is the second act of a story that started last week. Pardi got through his Wilmington, North Carolina, show on Thursday, Oct. 1 — "squeaking by," he said in a video to fans — and then postponed the next two nights: Macon, Georgia, on Oct. 2 and Biloxi, Mississippi, on Oct. 3. In the video announcing those postponements, he was blunt about why: he was very sick, he said, and he wanted to be 100 percent before getting back on stage. "I'm coming back. We ain't canceled. We're just rescheduled," he told fans, urging them to hold their tickets. Those first two didn't get pushed nearly as far — his tour page now lists Biloxi for Oct. 29 and Macon for Oct. 30, roughly four weeks out. The second weekend's shows needed a much longer runway.
The gap between the two sets of new dates is the detail worth sitting with. A four-week push for Macon and Biloxi; a seven-month push for Loveland, West Valley City and Nampa. That's the difference between a singer who hoped he'd be better soon and a singer who now knows he won't be. A "deep chest infection" — Pardi's own words, twice now — is not a cold you power through, and the calendar math suggests his team is planning for a full, unhurried recovery rather than a heroic return. For a vocalist whose whole show is built on big, lung-filling traditional country singing, that caution is the only professional move.
All of it is part of the Gamblin' Man Tour, with Alexandra Kay and Sadie Bass opening. The tour launched September 17 and is slated to continue through November 14, with the final show taking place in Independence, Missouri. His next date on the books after this weekend is the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Tuesday, Oct. 13 — and at this writing, there has been no indication whether he'll be well enough for that one. Fans holding Opry tickets should watch his channels; given the trajectory of the last two announcements, another update before Tuesday would not be surprising.

Pardi is also the latest in a rough stretch of touring-health news across the genre. Just yesterday, Chris Stapleton postponed the final three shows of his All-American Road Show after coming down with the flu — and the cluster of sidelined stars this fall has made October feel like open season for tour disruptions. The difference in Pardi's case is the scale of the postponement: Stapleton's shows moved weeks; Pardi's mountain-west swing moved to spring. Nobody wants to be the artist postponing shows in May because of an October illness, but nobody wants to hear Head Over Boots through a chest infection either.
If you're holding tickets for Loveland, West Valley City or Nampa: keep them — they're good for May 8, May 13 and May 20 respectively, and refunds are available where you bought them if the new dates don't work. And if you're holding tickets for the Oct. 13 Opry show, stay tuned. The music desk will update as soon as Pardi's camp says anything more — and country's having a busy week either way, with plenty happening that doesn't require a working set of lungs.
