Laneway Festival Reveals 2027 Lineup: Fontaines D.C. and Hayley Williams Headline Four-City Run

The 22nd edition of Australia’s tastemaker festival stacks Fontaines D.C. and The Hayley Williams Show atop a bill of Slayyyter, Kim Petras, MUNA, Rico Nasty, DIIV, and more — Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Auckland this February.

The Short Version

Australia’s favorite indie festival just dropped its biggest lineup yet. Laneway Festival has revealed the full bill for its 2027 edition — its 22nd — led by Irish post-punk titans Fontaines D.C. and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams, who brings The Hayley Williams Show to Australia for her first festival appearances down under as a solo artist.

The four-city run hits Sydney’s Centennial Park on Friday, February 12, Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday, February 13, Melbourne’s Flemington Park on Friday, February 19, and Auckland’s Western Springs on Sunday, February 21. Presale opens Wednesday, October 7, with general sale Thursday, October 8 — opening times staggered by city, with Ticketek as the official outlet.

The headliners

Fontaines D.C. return to Laneway for the first time in four years, bringing an extended headline set built around new music from their forthcoming fifth album, Dopamine Chamber. The Dublin band’s return follows a huge few years that have included headline appearances at Reading & Leeds, sold-out arena tours, and back-to-back BRIT Awards, according to The Music Network’s coverage of the announcement.

Williams, meanwhile, will deliver her first Australian festival appearances as a solo artist, performing an extended set drawing from her solo catalogue — including her four-time Grammy-nominated album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The Laneway dates follow her previously announced intimate headline shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, both of which sold out almost instantly. Across the Tasman, she’ll make her debut solo performance in Aotearoa at Western Springs.

The rest of the bill

Beyond the headliners, the 2027 lineup is a multi-genre collision of alternative, hip-hop, punk, and indie. Slayyyter returns to Australia following major appearances at Coachella and Reading & Leeds, while rising pop star ADÉLA makes her Laneway debut. Kim Petras, MUNA, and Rachel Chinouriri round out a particularly stacked pop contingent. Electronic fans get Australian producer Ninajirachi headlining the Everything Ecstatic Stage — a rapid rise just two years after she appeared as an interstitial DJ at the 2025 festival — alongside Berlin favorite horsegiirL.

The alternative and hip-hop contingent runs deep: the Laneway debut of multi-genre US rapper Rico Nasty, the return of Brooklyn shoegaze heroes DIIV after more than a decade away, the deviant pop of Los Angeles band Automatic, New Zealand indie-rockers Balu Brigada, and indie newcomer Violet Grohl. An exciting wave of Irish artists — Bleech 9:3, Florence Road, and Gurriers — features alongside local acts Ecca Vandal, Public Figures, Swapmeet, and Trials. Elsewhere on the bill: electronic rap auteur Jane Remover, PC Music pioneer Danny L Harle, Australian-Filipino artist Daine with their maximalist experimental pop, glitchy hyper-pop artist Tiffany Day, and enigmatic internet rapper Rommulas. Between sets, 1tbsp and live-coding genius DJ_Dave will keep the soundtrack rolling.

As BLUNT Magazine’s coverage put it, Fontaines D.C. and Slayyyter “are very different reasons to turn up. Having both on the poster is part of the appeal.” That’s the classic Laneway trick — in The Partae’s words, “a multi-genre collision of alternative, hip hop, punk, and indie” — and the 2027 bill may be its purest expression yet. For the Auckland stop, the New Zealand flavor runs strongest: GreatSouth, MOKOMOKAI, O & The Mo, and Office Dog join the bill at Western Springs, where Rova notes the “long-awaited return” of Fontaines D.C. to New Zealand alongside “pop breakout Slayyyter” making her local debut, “sleaze-pop queen Kim Petras,” and “euphoric synth-pop trio MUNA.”

Tickets and the missing cities

Presale opens Wednesday, October 7 — 10am AEDT in Sydney, 11am AEDT in Melbourne, 11am AEST in Brisbane, and 11am NZDT in Auckland — with general sale following on Thursday, October 8 at the same staggered times. The Afterpay-presented presale runs 23 hours in each city, or until the allocation is exhausted. Fans can also secure online-only Laneway ’27 merch, including a festival lineup cap and a limited Laneway edition of Fontaines D.C.’s forthcoming Dopamine Chamber.

One notable absence: Adelaide and Perth are not on the 2027 festival route. The consolation is real, though — Fontaines D.C., Jane Remover, and Tiffany Day will play sideshows in those cities, with further details to come. The Australian dates are 16+; Auckland is R18+.

Why it matters

Laneway has spent two decades as the Southern Hemisphere’s tastemaker festival — the bill that tells you who’ll matter next year. The 2027 edition leans harder into pop than the festival’s indie roots might suggest: Kim Petras, MUNA, Slayyyter, ADÉLA, and Rachel Chinouriri make for one of the strongest pop contingents in the festival’s history, while the headliners split the difference between Fontaines D.C.’s post-punk ascent and Williams’ ongoing solo-era victory lap.

For festival planners, it’s also a signal about where the smart money is in early 2027: big-tent indie with a pop spine, and headliners who can sell out theaters on their own before the festival even starts. The presale on Wednesday will tell us how quickly the rest of Australia agrees.
