LOS ANGELES — Dyon Brooks, better known as Mojo Brookzz, woke up this morning a Netflix comedian. His debut special, Mojo Brookzz: I Know You Lying, premiered globally on the streamer today, October 6 — the biggest stage of his career so far, and honestly one he earned the hard way.
THE SPECIAL — Filmed in December 2025 at the Center Stage Theatre in Atlanta, the hour is directed by Mike "Homeless Pimp" Lavin and produced by 3 Nuts Studios. The title comes from Brookzz's 2025 headline tour — 40 cities, more than 100,000 tickets sold. Netflix bills it like this: "Scene-stealer Mojo Brookzz unloads on freaky partners, wild BBL culture, and his niece's big coming-out present." If you know his act, you know exactly what kind of hour that's going to be.
THE RISE — Brookzz is a Chicago comic who built his name the modern way — viral clips, relentless crowd work, and sets that feel like they're happening to you personally. He popped on Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out Season 21, but the real gear-shift came with Tyler Perry's Netflix series Miss Governor (formerly She the People), where he plays Basil Henderson, the outspoken driver to the show's lieutenant governor of Mississippi. Scene-stealer is right — he walked off with every scene he was in.
WHY IT MATTERS — Netflix doesn't hand debut specials to just anybody, and October is stacked — Brookzz shares the month with a Norm Macdonald documentary and Zainab Johnson's Toxically Optimistic on the 27th. But today belongs to Mojo. For a comic who came up telling the truth a little too loudly in rooms across the country, "I Know You Lying" feels less like a title and more like a mission statement. Go watch it.
