'I Let You In': Talk to Me's VR Spinoff Is Coming — And You're the One Getting Possessed

Six episodes, a Meta Quest exclusive, spring 2027. The possessed-hand universe is going immersive, and this time the party's in Ibiza.

The Short Version

  • I Let You In, a six-episode immersive series set in the Talk to Me universe, arrives exclusively on Meta Quest headsets and Meta VR glasses in spring 2027. The first-look poster was revealed today, Oct 8.
  • The premise: a group of young travelers chasing the ultimate party in Ibiza get hooked on conjuring spirits — "a supernatural high deadlier than any drug." Directed by Craig William Macneill (Them, The Terror), written by Trent Atherton.
  • The cast: Charlie Hiscock, Aubri Ibrag, Raff Law, Sofia Hublitz, Charlotte Maggi and Julio Peña. The series was filmed in Spain earlier this year and is now in post-production.
  • The Philippou brothers executive produce — and they're stacking the universe: a secretly-shot Duckett prequel and the A24-greenlit sequel Talk 2 Me are also in the works.

The smartest thing about Talk to Me was never the jump scares. It was the hook: a ritual where teenagers grab an embalmed hand, say "talk to me," and let something else drive for 90 seconds. A party game where the prize is possession. It was built for horror nerds and group chats alike, and now it's going somewhere the first film could only tease — inside your headset.

The news broke via a Variety exclusive, amplified today when Bloody Disgusting revealed the first-look poster: I Let You In, a six-episode immersive series, is coming exclusively to Meta Quest headsets and Meta VR glasses in spring 2027. All six episodes are directed by Craig William Macneill, the genre veteran behind Them and The Terror, from scripts by Trent Atherton (The Wheel) based on a pitch he developed with showrunner Darren Brandl. The series was commissioned by Meta, produced by XRTV, and filmed in Spain earlier this year — it's currently in post-production.

The premise is a natural evolution of the original's house-party scares. Where the first film trapped its teenagers in an Adelaide living room, I Let You In follows young travelers chasing the ultimate party in Ibiza who get hooked on conjuring spirits — "a supernatural high deadlier than any drug." Swap the suburban kitchen table for the club capital of Europe, and the metaphor lands even harder: this was always a story about kids who can't stop chasing the next hit. Ibiza is just the biggest venue for that conversation imaginable.

The cast is a strong mix of rising faces: Charlie Hiscock (Ted Lasso), Aubri Ibrag (The Buccaneers), Raff Law (Masters of the Air), Sofia Hublitz (Ozark), Charlotte Maggi (Rebel Moon) and Julio Peña (Berlin) play the doomed travelers who toy with the wrong party game. On the producing side, the names are heavyweight: Danny and Michael Philippou — the brothers who created Talk to Me — executive produce for Blue Bear, with Brandl and Jack Davis for XRTV, Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton for Causeway Films (the team behind Talk to Me and The Babadook), Andreas Michael Wentz and Juan Antonio Cano Trujillo for Sur Film, and Jeff Rich producing for Meta. That's not a licensing deal. That's the whole filmmaking family showing up.

Brandl's quote to Bloody Disgusting tells you exactly what they're going for: he called Talk to Me "the perfect immersive IP" — a story about young adults who seek out the hand for the euphoria of possession and get tormented when they break through to the spirit world. "It made possession fun, and the scares unforgettable," he said. "We're betting you're going to want to feel possessed too." That line is either marketing or a threat. Probably both.

Here's what makes this more than a gimmick: the universe is quietly exploding in every direction at once. The Philippous have confirmed two other projects within the same world. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they secretly shot a full short-form prequel centered on Duckett — the character from the first film's unforgettable opening scene — narrated through the perspective of mobile phones and social media. And A24 has greenlit a sequel titled Talk 2 Me, for which the brothers have written two entirely separate scripts: one following the survivors of the first film, the other following a brand-new set of characters elsewhere in the world. A movie, a VR series, a prequel told through phones — they're building the most format-native horror franchise of the decade, and each piece plays to the strengths of its platform.

The VR format question is the interesting one. Horror in VR has been simmering for years — haunted-house demos, short experiences, the occasional full-length experiment — but nothing with an actual IP this hot and a creative team this legit. Watching a séance on a flat screen is scary. Being at the séance, turning your head and seeing the thing in the corner that everyone else at the table can suddenly see too — that's a different animal. Whether mainstream audiences own enough headsets to make it land is the open question, but Meta's commissioning this specifically to push its new VR glasses. They're betting that Talk to Me fans will be the ones who buy hardware for it.

If horror's your beat this season, we're also tracking Josh Hartnett's aquatic horror Below on Netflix, the broader Halloween horror surge, and the Exorcist: The Martyrs teaser. October is doing what October does.
