Why this game matters
A legacy game at MetLife
The Giants honor the 1986 championship team on its 40th anniversary — legends return, the classic blue uniforms return. The 2–1 Giants are perfect at home and can move to 3–1 in front of a charged crowd. But the Cardinals own an odd piece of history here: Arizona has never lost to the Giants at MetLife Stadium in three previous visits.
Winning without their quarterback
The Giants lost starting QB Jaxson Dart for the season to a Week 1 knee injury — and still sit at 2–1. Jameis Winston is expected to start, and the offense has leaned on the run: Cam Skattebo played a season-high 76.6% of the snaps in Week 3 against Tennessee (20 carries, 60 yards). Against a Cardinals defense allowing 4.6 yards per carry, expect more of the same.
Arizona needs a response
The 1–2 Cardinals are coming off a 36–30 shootout loss to the 49ers. Jacoby Brissett threw for 280 yards and 2 TDs without a pick — the offense is moving. The problem is the other side: this is a get-right spot for a defense that has to prove it can close.
