Where They Stand
The Hawks open 2026-27 as defending Southeast Division champions, the 46-36 crown they earned last season before a six-game first-round loss to the Knicks. Head coach Quin Snyder signed an extension and now works with a reshaped front office led by Onsi Saleh, promoted to president of basketball operations in May.
The Trae Young era ended in January with the star's trade to Washington, and the roster has been rebuilt around defense: Lu Dort arrived in a July three-team trade, and Onyeka Okongwu enters camp as the starting center. With CJ McCollum re-signed and Ettore Messina added as a coaching consultant, Atlanta hosts Memphis on Oct 5 to open preseason before a regular-season opener Oct 21 at Orlando.
