Where They Stand
The Nets come off a 20-62 season that finished 13th in the Eastern Conference, and head coach Jordi Fernández signed a multi-year extension in April to keep steering the rebuild. The summer’s signature move brought two-time All-NBA forward Julius Randle back to New York from Minnesota, with Nic Claxton going the other way to Chicago, while free-agent additions Keon Ellis and Moritz Wagner and No. 6 overall pick Mikel Brown Jr. round out a roster blending veterans with a deep young core.
Michael Porter Jr., who averaged 24.7 points per game for Brooklyn last season, joins Randle as the veteran pillar expected to carry the offense while Egor Dëmin, Ben Saraf, Drake Powell, Danny Wolf and Noah Clowney take their next steps. Camp opened September 29 at the HSS Training Center, and the four-game preseason slate tips off October 6 in Charlotte before the lone home exhibition against Philadelphia on October 8.
