Where They Stand
No team turned over faster: a league-worst 17-65 season was followed by the No. 1 overall pick (AJ Dybantsa) and a star-collection spree — Trae Young arrived in January, Anthony Davis in February, and Deandre Ayton and Khris Middleton joined this summer. Brian Keefe coaches a roster that looks nothing like last year's.
Dybantsa, the BYU phenom who averaged 25.5 points as a freshman, was just named the Topps Flagship cover athlete, and Davis has already called him a 'special talent.' Media day carried a line not heard in years — 'this is going to be fun.' Preseason opens Oct 8 at Madison Square Garden; the season tips Oct 21 against Milwaukee at Capital One Arena.
