Dungeon Crawl 94: What Was Taken
About this game
Dungeon Crawl 94: What Was Taken is a grid-based dungeon-crawling RPG focused on exploration, turn-based combat, character progression, and procedurally generated environments. Players choose a class and develop attributes including Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Speed, Constitution, and Luck while discovering randomized equipment, spell books, cursed and legendary items, crafting supplies, merchants, animal companions, mimics, and bosses. The game uses a 2D grid-based world with a perspective rendering system that allows outdoor environments to display a visible sky and horizon. The player's view can also be rotated through four orientations while exploring. The story follows a traveler returning home who discovers his home in flames and his family missing, beginning a journey to discover what was taken and find them.
After a long journey, a weary traveler finally returns home, only to find it engulfed in flames. His family is gone, and what mattered most to him has been taken. With little more than the determination to find them, he sets out across dangerous roads, forests, caves, and forgotten places in search of answers. Along the way, he encounters strange creatures, powerful enemies, and signs that his family's disappearance may be part of something much larger. The farther he travels, the more he must ask: what else will be taken before his journey is over?
