About this game

Inheritance is a neo-noir detective visual novel where players step into the role of Detective Graves, locked in a psychological duel with Richard Alden, a suspect whose calm composure hides unsettling truths. Through branching dialogue, flashbacks, and shifting memories, the story unravels a haunting case about patterns, control, and the weight of what we inherit. Inheritance places players in the middle of this psychological standoff, where truth and lies twist into a suffocating knot. As Graves, you are not only chasing answers — you are defending your own sanity. Each question you ask, each choice you make, draws you deeper into Alden’s mind games, and the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur. Through flashbacks, branching dialogue, and atmospheric tension, the story reveals fragments of the case that brought you here — a case tied to power, betrayal, and a legacy soaked in blood. But nothing is ever what it seems. Even memory can be a weapon. At its core, Inheritance is about more than solving a crime. It is about facing the past we carry, the truths we deny, and the consequences of digging too deep. Some answers, once spoken aloud, can never be taken back.

Detective Michael Graves has spent decades in the shadows of other people’s crimes. Hardened by years of interrogation rooms, cigarette smoke, and the weight of unsolved cases, he now finds himself face to face with a man who may be more dangerous than any he has ever questioned. Richard Alden doesn’t look like a killer. Calm, measured, almost polite — he carries himself with the confidence of someone who knows more than he should. But behind his words lurks something darker, something that makes every sentence feel like a trap.
