The story follows an experienced Peter Parker, now eight years into his career as Spider-Man, defending a sprawling, modern New York City while juggling the messy demands of his civilian life. When he finally puts crime lord Wilson Fisk behind bars, the power vacuum invites something far worse: a masked gang called the Inner Demons, led by the enigmatic Mister Negative, who seizes Fisk's empire and pursues a deadly secret. As Peter investigates alongside reporter Mary Jane Watson and young Miles Morales, he discovers a stolen bioweapon that could devastate the city, forcing him to confront old foes and painful choices about who he can save. His mentor, the brilliant scientist Otto Octavius, and city officials are drawn into a crisis that tests both Spider-Man and the man beneath the mask. The edition also includes a continuing chapter of story content set after these events across the city's criminal underworld.
