ProtoStar is a 2D platformer inspired by games like Celeste, Super Meat Boy, Sonic the Hedgehog, and NES classics such as Gimmick. It features a pixel art style reminiscent of PC games from the MS-DOS 90s era and music composed primarily in Famitracker chiptune music.

You explore Sour Island, home to Izak, a cyclops who long ago lost his brother at the hands of the antagonist Karmes. One day, Karmes strikes back, and this time he’ll do everything in his power to destroy the monster world, especially Izak by torturing him with memories of his bitter past. Izak must find the 5 ProtoStars hidden throughout Sour Island and climb the ProtoStar Tower to defeat Karmes once and for all. Izak will be helped by Ba, a young axolotl who loves technology, science and fantasy games; Cut, a strong and menace monster of unknown origin with a serious demeanor; and Levi, a snake witch who will provide potions for every occasion for a price.
