MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2026 — Tonight is one of those Mondays that makes Las Vegas feel like it’s in on something. Brandon Flowers opens a two-nights-only solo run at Encore Theater at Wynn tonight at 8 PM, with a second night tomorrow at the same hour — and the rest of the Strip isn’t exactly sitting this one out. Wayne Newton is at Flamingo, Absinthe is on its usual double shift at Caesars, and the Jabbawockeez are running two shows at MGM Grand. A Monday night this loaded is a reminder of what Vegas does better than anywhere else: it doesn’t have a slow night.
Start with the headliner. Flowers, the frontman and principal songwriter of The Killers, is playing his solo material — and per Wynn’s official listing, this run is built around Thrasher, his third solo album, recorded in Nashville with producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado. The session cast is the kind of lineup that makes musicians do a double take: guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel master Bruce Bouton, and harmonica virtuoso Charlie McCoy, who played on all four of Bob Dylan’s iconic Nashville records. The album’s world is honky-tonk ragers, highway ballads, and lived-in American storytelling, drawn from a Utah upbringing shaped by his father’s country records and the wide-open landscapes of small-town Nephi.

Thrasher comes home
Here’s the honest take on why this particular booking matters: Flowers is a Vegas story as much as he is a rock star. The Killers are the Strip’s house band in spirit — the rare band that actually came from here — and a solo run at Encore, one of the room’s most intimate theaters, is the city treating one of its own to a prestige engagement. Wynn is billing it as two nights only, which in Vegas-speak means don’t wait for a third date that doesn’t exist. This is the entire run.
He’s also arriving with momentum. Flowers comes straight off the Austin double: the official ACL Nights show at Stubb’s on October 1 and Austin City Limits Weekend One at Zilker Park on October 2, both listed on Ticketmaster’s tour page. And the itinerary after Vegas is serious — a UK run starting October 14 in Bournemouth, London’s Royal Albert Hall on October 15, then Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester, York, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Dublin on October 27. The Vegas dates aren’t a warmup for that tour; they’re the American showcase of a record that’s about to be judged by British crowds. Which means tonight and tomorrow are the nights to hear Thrasher played like it matters — because to the guy on stage, it does.
A word about what you’re buying
Let me be straight about this, because iGoVEGAS put it well and it bears repeating: this is billed as Brandon Flowers, not a Killers concert. Choose it for the solo engagement itself rather than assuming a particular band lineup or set list. That’s not a warning — it’s a feature. The solo shows have always been where Flowers does his most interesting work: the songs that didn’t fit the Killers’ stadium frame, played in a room that actually rewards them.
That said, if you need the comfort of the familiar: recent setlists posted on Ticketmaster’s artist page mixed Thrasher material with stripped-down Killers favorites — “Read My Mind,” “When You Were Young,” “All These Things That I’ve Done,” and a version of “Mr. Brightside” that has reportedly gotten a Fleetwood Mac detour or two. The Killers catalog is never far away when Brandon Flowers is on a stage in his hometown. It just isn’t the point of the night.

The Monday undercard
Now the part of this story that’s actually useful if you live here or you’re in town with a free evening: the rest of tonight’s Strip lineup.
Wayne Newton at 7 PM, Bugsy’s Cabaret at Flamingo. Mr. Las Vegas plays his room on a Monday night, which is exactly how it should be — Newton has been doing this longer than most of the buildings on the boulevard have been standing, and the Flamingo residency remains the most old-Vegas ticket in town. JamBase has tonight’s show listed at 7 PM. If you’ve never done Newton, this is the version to see: 80 minutes, up close, no filler.
Absinthe at 7 and 9 PM, Spiegeltent at Caesars Palace. Spiegelworld’s official schedule has the show on a Sunday–Thursday two-show rhythm — 7 PM and 9 PM, no 11 PM Monday slot, so plan accordingly. Fifteen years into its run, Absinthe is still the show I recommend first when someone asks what to see in Vegas: without-a-net circus work and genuinely filthy cabaret comedy in a 620-seat tent, right in the middle of the action. If you’ve somehow never been, tonight is a fine night to fix that. It’s also one of the few Strip shows that pairs well with a late dinner — the Green Fairy Garden outside has bars and food before doors.
Jabbawockeez at 5:30 and 8 PM, MGM Grand. The masked dance crew runs two shows tonight per AXS and Ticketmaster listings — 5:30 and 8 PM in their namesake theater. The 5:30 is the play if you want a show before dinner; the 8 PM works as the nightcap to an early-evening plan. Seventy-five minutes, family-friendly, and as tight a dance production as this town has.
And one more, courtesy of iGoVEGAS’s October guide: Mat Franco’s October 5–6 tapings — the magician is filming shows tonight and tomorrow, which adds a filming-night energy to an already busy Monday. If you want to be in the room for something that ends up on a screen, that’s your ticket.

If you’re going tonight
The practical bits, all verified this afternoon. Encore Theater is inside Wynn Las Vegas at 3131 Las Vegas Blvd South. Showtime is 8 PM sharp both nights — this is a theater show, not an arena, so “fashionably late” reads as “standing in the lobby.” Current resale listings on las-vegas.events run from about $50–$61 up, averaging roughly $168–$177, with a few dozen tickets still showing for each night as of this afternoon. That’s not bad for an intimate-room engagement with a rock star of Flowers’s stature — Monday/Tuesday shows have always been the locals’ arbitrage.
And the standard Vegas-show counsel, per iGoVEGAS’s guide: confirm the exact performance and ticket availability before booking. Schedules get checked, then they change — the guide’s own listings were last verified October 1, and it says so right up top.

The week after tonight
Monday isn’t the whole story this week. Wednesday, October 7 brings a genuinely unusual double: Ludovico Einaudi’s solo piano evening at Encore Theater — the same room Flowers is playing, two nights later, turned all the way down to a whisper — and Josh Groban’s GEMS residency continuing at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. And the clock is running on Awakening at Wynn, which closes October 10; if you’ve been waiting, this is the final week, not a drill.
For the full fall picture, our Vegas daily roundup is tracking the month, and if dinner’s part of the plan, the October dining debuts are worth a look before the show. Music fans keeping score across the week: the weekly music roundup and Ella Langley’s chart record weekend are both live, and the AC/DC MetLife finale with Dave Grohl on “Highway to Hell” is the concert story of the month.
My honest read on tonight: Vegas runs on Mondays like this. The weekend crowd flies home, the rooms get quieter, and the city puts its best stuff on for the people who actually live here — or who were smart enough to stay through Tuesday. Flowers at Encore is the headline, but a night with Newton, Absinthe, the Jabbawockeez, and a taping all running within a mile of each other? That’s just Vegas being Vegas. Go see something.
