RACELAND, La. — Ken Urker is dead. He was 34 years old.
Deputies found him Thursday at his home in Raceland, Louisiana. The call came in at 6:15 p.m. He was dead when they arrived. It was his birthday.
What the sheriff’s office will say on the record is short. “Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival,” the public information officer said in a statement to Page Six. “We are continuing the death investigation. To this point in the investigation, we have found no evidence of foul play.”
What the coroner will say is shorter still. An autopsy was conducted Friday morning. “At this time, there is no definitive cause of death,” the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office said in a statement to Page Six. “The case remains pending completion of toxicology testing.” The office said it will provide no further updates until the results are received and the investigation is complete.
The 911 call log, obtained by Page Six, fills in how the day began. Somebody noticed Urker had not shown up for work and asked authorities for a welfare check. The caller told dispatch he was “in a dark place.” That he had made suicidal comments. That he owned a gun. That he had been drinking the night before.
Deputies got in through a bedroom window. They found him on his bed. He was cold to the touch. He was not breathing. Drug paraphernalia and a handgun were found at the scene, according to the log.
Read that again and note what it is: a dispatch log. It is not a finding. Nobody — not the sheriff, not the coroner — has announced how Ken Urker died. The toxicology will take weeks. Until then, everything else is noise.
“I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.” — Gypsy Rose Blanchard, statement to People, Oct. 2, 2026
“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” Blanchard continued. “He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.” She said he had endured “an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit.”
Blanchard told People she believes Urker may have died of an overdose. She said she does not know whether it was accidental or intentional. That is her belief, stated in grief. It is not the coroner’s finding. Treat it accordingly.
Who he was. Ken Urker wrote to Gypsy Rose Blanchard while she was in prison — he had watched the documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest and picked up a pen. They were engaged in 2018. The engagement ended. She married Ryan Anderson. She was released in December 2023. That marriage ended. She and Urker found their way back to each other in 2024. Their daughter, Aurora, was born December 28, 2024.
His sister, Autumn, confirmed his death. She later criticized some of Blanchard’s public comments about the relationship. The family has asked for privacy.
Blanchard’s own history is public record: she served more than eight years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2015 killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
What comes next is procedure. The toxicology runs its course — typically weeks. The sheriff’s investigation stays open. The coroner speaks when the science speaks. This page will be updated when any of that changes.
