SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026 — A man wanted in connection with a domestic-violence shooting Saturday was shot and killed by Henderson police Saturday night after he opened fire on officers just east of Harry Reid International Airport, the Henderson Police Department said.
Two Henderson officers fired at the man, striking him, according to a news release issued early Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A domestic call that escalated twice
The situation began about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, when Henderson police officers responded to a domestic-violence call in the 2000 block of Club Crest Way, near Green Valley Parkway and Warm Springs Road, the news release said. A family member had come to the home, battered a relative and pointed a gun at family members, police said.
Officers left the scene, but later that night they were called back to the home. The suspect had returned and fired multiple rounds into the house, striking one person, Henderson police Capt. Seth VanBeveren said early Sunday. The news release said a woman was shot and hospitalized but was expected to be released.

Tracked to a funeral home on Eastern Avenue
Police then learned that the suspect was in the 6000 block of South Eastern Avenue, near East Patrick Lane, and that the suspect “had told an acquaintance he intended to provoke a confrontation with police and threatened suicide by cop,” the release said.
“Our investigation led us to the Davis Funeral Home here off of Eastern and Patrick, where we had information that the suspect was here,” VanBeveren said in a briefing near the scene early Sunday.
The response was a large one. Officers from Henderson, the Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County Office of Public Safety responded, along with Metro’s air unit, and both Henderson police SWAT and Metro SWAT were called out, according to the release.
Two scenes, a few miles apart
The two scenes of Saturday’s violence sat a few miles apart in the southeast valley. The afternoon domestic-violence call took police to the 2000 block of Club Crest Way, in Henderson’s Green Valley North neighborhood near Green Valley Parkway and Warm Springs Road, according to the release. The nighttime confrontation unfolded at the Davis Funeral Home in the 6000 block of South Eastern Avenue near East Patrick Lane — an area just east of Harry Reid International Airport.
The department’s account did not explain how the suspect traveled between the two locations, or what drew him to the funeral home. What police have said is that he had told an acquaintance he intended to provoke a confrontation with police — and that when officers arrived, he opened fire on officers on the ground and on the Metro helicopter overhead.
The fatal exchange
“When officers arrived, the suspect fired at Henderson Police officers and at Metro’s Air Unit,” the news release said.
“While officers worked to establish dialogue with the suspect, he fired at officers again, and two Henderson Police officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect,” the release said. “Medical aid was rendered to the suspect, however, he succumbed to his injuries on scene.”
The exchange ended a confrontation that had drawn a large, multi-agency response: Henderson officers, Metro officers, the Clark County Office of Public Safety, Metro’s air unit, and two SWAT teams had all converged on the area around Eastern Avenue and Patrick Lane. According to the release, the suspect fired first — at officers on the ground and at the helicopter overhead — and fired again after officers tried to open a dialogue. The department’s account did not say how many rounds were fired on either side, or how long officers were on scene before the fatal shots.
The man’s name had not been released early Sunday.

What comes next
As of early Sunday, police had not released the man’s name or the names of the two officers who fired. VanBeveren said that no officers or other community members were injured, and that the department will release more details about the incident this week, including video.
“We want you to know that our officers did what they do best as they responded and did their best to make sure we kept the community safe,” VanBeveren said.
It was the department’s third officer-involved shooting and second fatal officer-involved shooting this year, police said.
The fatal shooting came one night after a separate tragedy in the valley: three teens were shot, one of them fatally, in downtown Las Vegas during the popular First Friday event in the Arts District on Friday night, as Previously’s coverage of the First Friday shooting reported.
