On Friday night at Zouk Nightclub inside Resorts World Las Vegas, Megan Thee Stallion was rolled onto the stage inside a towering origami pumpkin skirt while a room full of costumed guests held their phones up to catch it. It was the arrival moment of Hottieween 2026 — the Las Vegas edition of the Halloween party she has run since 2019. The theme was "Thee Circus Is Coming," and for one night the circus was literal: Cirque du Soleil built the production and the costume, Megan played ringleader, and the party ran from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Parade's account of the night, drawn from the event's news release, and CNN's reporting on the costume tell the same story from two sides of the stage: this was not a celebrity appearance at a Halloween party. It was a production that happened to have a dance floor.
A four-minute circus before she even appeared
The night opened with a four-minute Cirque du Soleil performance — four artists covering breaking, capoeira, gliding, contortion and diabolo — before the performers froze, Megan's music hit and she was rolled out in the skirt. The four came from three of Cirque's Las Vegas productions: KÀ, Michael Jackson ONE and O. The sequence was choreographed by Tiffany Baker, and it framed the arrival the way a Cirque show frames an entrance — the star did not walk into the room; the room was built up to her, and then she arrived inside the biggest garment in it.

The costume: 700 hours, three outfits in one
The costume was custom-built by Cirque du Soleil's team — 23 artists, artisans and fabricators, and more than 700 hours of work, according to CNN's account of the build. The pumpkin skirt alone is 12 panels, each nearly six feet tall, made from more than 400 square feet of custom-printed, hand-painted material, joined with more than 50 magnets so sections could separate on cue. Thirteen 3D-printed jester embellishments ride the structure — the center one, the grinning jester head on her shoulder, is named "Geronimo" — and a single accordion sleeve was assembled from 120 individually patterned pieces. More than 50 yards of fabric went into the whole build. Costume designer Miodrag "Mio" Guberinic told CNN the look riffs on iconic Cirque pieces, "creating something whimsical that belongs to Megan Thee Stallion's world"; Cirque's creative director for the project was Gabriel Dubé-Dupuis.

It was built to come apart. Across the night the costume transformed in three stages, live, in front of the crowd: on Megan's cue, the performers pulled the pumpkin skirt apart to reveal the party look underneath — a fiery showgirl-ringleader fit, all straps and flame tones, that she wore for the rest of the night. Parade describes the change happening "right in front of the crowd," and HotNewHipHop's report from the night centers on the second look: the showgirl costume she performed in once the skirt was gone. One costume, three silhouettes, and the change itself was part of the show.

She worked the party, too
Megan did not just host. She performed — microphone in hand, moving through the crowd at the rail — and she used the night to debut her new track "Thin Ice," performed live for the first time, as HotNewHipHop reported from the room. Amapiano star Uncle Waffles was the night's special guest DJ. Megan's own Chicas Divertidas tequila was on the menu, and a portion of the night's proceeds benefits the Pete & Thomas Foundation, the nonprofit she founded in honor of her late parents. Costumes were mandatory and the room was 21-and-over — a party with a dress code, a cause and a headliner who treated it like a show date.

Watch: Thee Hottieween Trailer
The night arrived with its own film. The official Hottieween trailer dropped on Wednesday, Oct. 28 — a black-and-white horror short built with ideas sourced from Megan's own fans, the Hotties, through Facebook, with Megan looming over a twisted carnival as a giantess ringleader. Billboard's account of the rollout, via HipHopWired, traces the trailer's ideas back to the fans who submitted them.
An institution, five cities deep
Hottieween began in 2019 — it started as a web series directed by Teyana Taylor — and has since taken the party to Houston, Megan's hometown, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago before Friday's Las Vegas debut, per CNN and Parade. Every edition has scaled up, and the comparison between the early parties and this one is the point: the Vegas edition is the first built with Cirque du Soleil, staged in the city Cirque calls home, with a costume that had its own creative director and a four-minute opening act before the host appeared. "Working with Cirque du Soleil on this year's Hottieween costume was such an amazing experience," Megan said in a statement carried by Parade. "It was the perfect way to set the tone for another unforgettable Hottieween celebration." Her own Instagram caption for the night was shorter: "No errands. No emergencies, just Hottieween" — and in the comments under her photos from the night, fans were calling her the queen of Halloween.
Halloween weekend fills every club in the country with somebody's party. Hottieween is not somebody's party — it has an owner, an eight-year history and, as of Friday, a Cirque du Soleil production on its résumé. Megan ran off with Halloween again, and this year the receipts are 700 hours long. More of the week's culture lives on Previously's Culture front.
