CHESTER, Pa. — Fifteen matches without a defeat, gone in the space of two stoppage times. Dor Turgeman put New England ahead in the third minute of first-half added time, Carles Gil converted a penalty in the first minute of second-half added time after a VAR review put him back onside, and Philadelphia's club-record unbeaten run ended Saturday night despite Neil Pierre's header at 90'+12' — the Revolution's 2–1 win at Subaru Park moving them into second place in the Eastern Conference.
The streak, and the man who ended it
Philadelphia (13-11-7) had gone 12-0-3 since interim coach Ryan Richter took over at the World Cup break — a club-record 15-match unbeaten run, unbeaten since a 6–4 loss at Miami on May 24, according to the Associated Press. They started like a team protecting it: Frankie Westfield struck the crossbar inside three minutes, and Matt Turner — in his 150th appearance for New England — was the busier goalkeeper early.
The opener came from the visitors' two best players. Gil reached a half-clearance 30 yards out, slalomed between two defenders and lofted a diagonal ball to the back post; Peyton Miller headed it back across goal and Turgeman volleyed in from close range at 45'+3'. It was Turgeman's 10th goal of the season, scored on his 23rd birthday; Miller's assist was a career-high eighth; Gil's secondary assist was his 12th of the season and the 99th of his MLS career.
Ninety minutes, then twelve more
The second half was a match of goalkeepers. Andre Blake denied Dániel Gazdag — Philadelphia's all-time leading scorer, now wearing New England's shirt — in the 27th and 33rd minutes and fingertipped a Gil effort away at full stretch on 58. Turner matched him, and the game arrived at stoppage time still 1–0, with 12 minutes of it to be added after a night of injury delays.
Then the match detonated. Gil reached an outlet ball, drove into the box and was hauled down by 19-year-old rookie Neil Pierre. The referee first ruled Gil offside; after consulting the replay he reversed it, pointed to the spot, and Gil converted emphatically at 90'+1' — his career-high 13th goal of the season, his seventh penalty of the year and the 24th conversion in 27 career attempts from the spot.
Pierre answers, Turner closes
Pierre, the man who conceded the penalty, atoned at 90'+12': Kai Wagner saved a ball off the end line and crossed, and Pierre's firm header made it 2–1 — one of the latest goals a scoreline can show, and the start of a frenzy rather than the end of one.
It still was not enough. In the 16th minute of stoppage time Turner sprawled to deny Agustín Anello the equaliser, and added a punch save on a final dangerous chance — six saves in all, matching Blake's six, and his 17th win of the season, tying his own club record and career high.
What it means
New England (17-10-4, 55 points) won their third straight, completed a season sweep of Philadelphia, won at Subaru Park for the first time since 2021 and moved above Inter Miami into second in the East on the total-wins tiebreaker, per the Revolution's official match notes. Philadelphia, sixth in the East and without team assist leader Cavan Sullivan (ankle), lost for the first time in five months — and the streak that defined their autumn died at home, in the twelfth minute of stoppage time, with their own goalkeeper's opposite number standing on his head.
Both clubs play Wednesday: New England host the New York Red Bulls — 2–0 winners over Inter Miami on the same night — and Philadelphia travel to Nashville.
