Tulsa King Renewed for Season 5 — and the Show Is Leaving Tulsa Behind for New York

Paramount+ handed Sylvester Stallone's mob drama an early Season 5 renewal on October 5 — and the show is packing up its Atlanta production for New York, where Dwight Manfredi's story began. Scarlet Rose Stallone is upped to series regular, with four new cast members joining.

Paramount+ is thinking ahead. The streamer has renewed Tulsa King for a fifth season before most viewers have even seen the fourth, announcing the early pickup on October 5, 2026 — eleven days before Season 4 premieres on October 16, according to Memorable TV and The Wrap. And Season 5 is coming with a major change of scenery: production is leaving Atlanta for New York, following Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi back toward the mafia roots he was exiled from in the pilot.

The renewalParamount+ bets early on Season 5

Early renewals are Hollywood’s loudest form of confidence, and this one is shouting. Memorable TV noted that the renewal comes before most viewers have even seen Season 4 — “a confident signal from Paramount+ that the show is performing well enough to plan ahead.” Production on the fifth season is already underway, with the move to New York kicking off in earnest, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed, via JustJared.

Drew Brown, executive vice president of physical production for Paramount Television Studios, made the announcement official in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring fans even more of this incredible series and to be shooting the next season of Tulsa King in New York, where Dwight Manfredi’s story will continue to evolve,” Brown said, in remarks carried by The Wrap and BroadwayWorld. “We’re proud of the work we’ve done in Georgia, and it remains an important venue for us.”

The confidence is rooted in the numbers. The series debuted in 2022, and its second season set a record on Paramount+ as the platform’s most-watched global premiere, drawing 21.1 million viewers, according to Memorable TV. A spinoff, Frisco King, is also in development, expanding what Memorable TV called “one of streaming’s more dependable franchise operations.”

The moveFrom Atlanta to New York

For four seasons, Tulsa King has been a show about exile made far from the city it’s about. Previous seasons filmed in Atlanta and Oklahoma, JustJared reported — and the fifth season will be the first shot in New York, the very city where Dwight “The General” Manfredi built his reputation before a mob boss had him shipped west. Memorable TV reported the shift is partly driven by New York State’s expanded film and television tax credit program, which offers significant savings for large productions, and partly by dramatic logic: Dwight’s origin story has always been a New York story.

Variety, cited by FilmoFilia, identified the same two forces — the tax incentives and Dwight’s origins — calling them “separate forms of logic: one makes the relocation financially practical, while the other gives it dramatic potential.” The state of New York is certainly eager to have the show. Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight said, “We’re excited to welcome the cast and crew of ‘Tulsa King’ to New York State for its fifth season,” in a statement carried by BroadwayWorld, touting New York’s Film Tax Credit Program and its promise of “real jobs and investment for New Yorkers.”

As FilmoFilia wrote in its analysis: “Tulsa gave the exiled mobster territory in which to build something away from home; New York offers a different relationship to his history, power and reputation.” After four seasons of building a criminal empire far from his roots, the general is coming home.

The castScarlet Rose upped, four new regulars

Season 5’s New York chapter is bringing a retooled ensemble with it. Scarlet Rose Stallone, who has played Spencer across all four seasons, has been upped to a series regular, according to Memorable TV, The Wrap and BroadwayWorld. Joining the main cast in series regular roles are Erik Palladino (I Play Rocky), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Anthony Skordi (The Last Frontier) and Nickola Shreli (Power Book IV: Force). Details about their characters have not been revealed, as JustJared noted.

Head writer Terence Winter, whose credits include The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, executive produces alongside the show’s production companies, Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, according to Memorable TV. Series creator Taylor Sheridan and Sylvester Stallone himself are also among the executive producers, alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Thomas Kelly and Keith Cox, The Wrap reported.

What’s nextSeason 4 arrives October 16

Before the New York chapter begins, there’s still an entire season of Tulsa to get through. Season 4 premieres Friday, October 16 on Paramount+, and finds Dwight fighting to legitimize his empire and protect his crew against corrupt politicians and dangerous new enemies — while struggling with a major personal loss, according to The Wrap. Gretchen Mol joins the Season 4 cast as a series regular, playing Tulsa politician Amanda Clark.

The returning ensemble, per The Wrap, includes Martin Starr, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Frank Grillo, Mike “Cash Flo” Walden, James Russo, Kevin Pollak and Neal McDonough, alongside Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany. For fans of the show’s high body count, CarterMatt’s wry advice stands: this is a show where a lot of people can die at any given moment — and now, with a fifth season already filming in New York, the future is secure no matter who survives October.
