The Duskbloods will not arrive in 2026.
FromSoftware announced today that its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive has been delayed into 2027. This is the studio's own announcement, shared in a statement today — not a retailer leak, not a rumor, and not a listing change.
FromSoftware did give a reason. The studio said its August network test showed active interest in the game's combat, strategic depth and player expression. To build on those strengths, it moved the launch to allow "time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing."
No new date was given. 2027 is the whole window for now.
That vagueness is part of the hit. Switch 2 owners who were waiting on this one do not get a month to plan around, or a quarter to hold onto. They get a year, and a wait that now stretches past the year the game was supposed to help define.
The Duskbloods matters out of proportion to a normal delay because of whose name is on it, and where it was supposed to land. FromSoftware is the studio behind Elden Ring. Its name alone stops a stranger mid-scroll. And this was not a quiet side release tucked into a catalogue. The game was announced as a Switch 2 showcase title — an exclusive meant to show what Nintendo's new platform could carry, and who it could bring with it.

That is why this reads as a platform story, not just a scheduling story. Delay stories are usually filler. A date moves, a statement goes out, everyone moves on. This one moves a console's year. Switch 2's 2026 slate loses its darkest exclusive, and it loses it without a replacement date attached.
For players, the shape of the loss is simple. If you bought, or were planning to buy, a Switch 2 partly for this exclusive, that reason now sits in 2027. This specific promise — the FromSoftware exclusive — is no longer part of 2026.
For Nintendo, the cost is positioning. An exclusive like this does a particular job: it signals range. It tells players who associate FromSoftware with hard, dark games that Switch 2 is a home for that kind of game too, in the year the platform is still establishing itself. Push the game into 2027 and that signal pushes with it.

For FromSoftware, the announcement is at least clean in one respect: it came from the studio itself, today, in plain terms. The window has moved to 2027. There is no softer version of that fact.
Until a date is named, every Switch 2 conversation about 2026 has to leave a blank where The Duskbloods was supposed to be.
The Duskbloods is still a Switch 2 exclusive. It is still a FromSoftware game. It is just not a 2026 game anymore.
