FC Dallas beat the Colorado Rapids 3–1 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, November 7, 2026 — MLS Decision Day, the final day of the regular season — in a game that settled both clubs' postseasons in the last quarter of an hour. Colorado arrived knowing a win would secure their place in the MLS Cup Playoffs; Dallas played for seeding at the top of the Western Conference. The first half ended goalless, and it was not for Dallas's lack of trying: Big D Soccer's match account records 17 Dallas shots before the break, the most by any side in a single half this season.

Two minutes after the break Colorado had the goal their season needed. Morgan Whittaker scored at 47', running onto a cross from half-time substitute Georgi Minoungou on the counter — the Associated Press recorded it as Whittaker's fourth consecutive game with a goal — and Colorado's goalkeeper Nico Hansen finished the night with seven saves as the lead held. For nearly half an hour, the live table had the Rapids in the playoffs.

Dallas turned it in a 17-minute closing run, and Kaick Ferreira — known simply as Kaick — was at the centre of all of it. At 75' a corner was cleared out to him and he played the ball back in first time for Joaquín Valiente, whose first-touch finish made it 1–1, Valiente's third goal of the year. At 88' Nolan Norris's long ball sent Kaick in; he cut back to evade a defender and blasted a shot from the top of the penalty box under the crossbar and inside the right post — his fifth goal of the season — and Dallas led 2–1. Colorado committed players forward chasing the goal that would save their season, and Dallas broke on them: Logan Farrington set up Santiago Moreno in the second minute of stoppage time for 3–1, Moreno's fifth of the year. Field Level Media's account put the final shot count at 27–6 to Dallas.

The full-time table is the story. Dallas finish 16-8-10 and clinch the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference; they host seventh-seeded Portland in the best-of-three first round. Colorado finish 12-15-7 and are eliminated from playoff contention — a win would have put them in, and they held the lead that would have done it until the 75th minute.

The clubs' own posts bookended the night. Dallas posted their full-time carousel — "A perfect finale" — and a locker-room celebration captioned "A bunch of playoff bound DAWGS." Colorado's full-time post said it plainly: "Decision Day comes to a close."
