Cyberleek Dropped 25 Minutes of GTA 6 Footage — and IGN's Preview Editor Is Already Pushing Back

The anonymous leaker's ‘GTA 6: An Extended Leek’ landed Wednesday. Friday, IGN's Rachel Weber — who actually saw Rockstar's official preview — said the leak doesn't match what Rockstar showed her.

The Short Version

The most persistent GTA 6 leaker on the internet just made his biggest drop yet — and the fight is already over whether any of it is real.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the anonymous leaker known as Cyberleek posted ‘GTA 6: An Extended Leek’ — a roughly 370MB ZIP archive holding about 25 minutes of gameplay footage. Within hours, the download links were buckling under demand. The title is a deliberate one-letter flip on Rockstar's own official promotional featurette, ‘GTA 6: An Extended Leak,’ which Rockstar released through Netflix and YouTube. Cyberleek didn't just leak the game. He leaked it with a wink at the studio's own marketing department.

This isn't his first time in the spotlight. Cyberleek first surfaced in August 2026, and Rockstar called those leaks "heartbreaking," and publisher Take-Two has since pursued subpoenas to try to identify the leaker (Dexerto). Six weeks out from launch — the single most anticipated release in the history of the medium — the leak war is now the loudest conversation in gaming, and nobody involved is having fun.

What the footage reportedly shows

Let's be precise about what outlets are reporting, because the fog of a 25-minute leak is thick. Per Dexerto, Dot Esports, Gameranx, and Sportskeeda, the footage includes story missions and cutscenes, street racing through Vice City, the Thrillbilly Mud Club, vehicle customization, a tank spawned via what appears to be a debug menu, and first-person driving views.

Outlets also report the footage contains nudity — protagonist Jason appears unclothed through much of the video, and Lucia is briefly exposed in swimwear. A word on our policy here: we are not embedding the footage, we are not linking to download sources, and we are not describing any of it in detail. This is coverage of the coverage, not distribution. If you go looking for the ZIP, that's your business — but it isn't going to be through us.

IGN throws the flag

Here's the part that actually moved the story today. IGN editor Rachel Weber attended an official GTA 6 gameplay preview back in July — one of the small group of journalists Rockstar actually let in the room. On Friday, she responded to the leak, and her pushback landed hard: she clarified she never saw full-frontal nudity in Rockstar's official preview, and she noted the leak shows a first-person mode that Rockstar has denied. Her warning, per Gameranx: it is unknown how much of this leaked content will survive into the final game.

That last sentence is doing a lot of work. A leak that includes a camera mode the studio denies and content that contradicts what invited press saw reads like one of three things: an older build, a developer/debug build, or something in between. The apparent debug menu — the tank spawn is the tell — strongly suggests this footage came from a development build, not the game shipping November 19. Six weeks of final crunch can change a lot of pixels.

Why Rockstar can't just laugh this off

To understand why a 25-minute ZIP is a five-alarm fire, look at the calendar. Six weeks before launch is the most choreographed stretch of a game's entire marketing life. Rockstar is running its own cadence — just this week it rolled out the official GTA VI radio-station reveal with new screenshots, part of the slow drip that's supposed to carry the game to launch. Every official beat is now competing with frame-by-frame freeze-frame analysis of unverified footage. The leak doesn't just spoil content; it pollutes the discourse.

And the broader season makes the noise louder. Battlefield 6 reviews just landed ahead of its launch tomorrow, and the fall window — including GTA 6's cloud-streaming conversation on GeForce NOW — is the most crowded release season in years. Rockstar's marketing machine depends on controlling the oxygen. Cyberleek is venting it into the open internet.

What to believe, and what's actually confirmed

Cut the noise and here's the ledger. Confirmed: GTA VI launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, after two delays. Digital preorders can preload from November 12. No PC version has been announced. Rockstar has not issued a statement on this specific footage.

Unverified: everything in the ZIP. Weber's Friday response is the closest thing to a reality check the leak has gotten — and even she was careful, saying only that the official preview she saw didn't match, and that the final game's contents are unknown. Treat the footage as unverified until Rockstar or the shipped game says otherwise. That's not being a killjoy. That's being honest about what a debug build in October tells you about a November game: less than the internet thinks.
