The second chance gets a second season. Nelly & Ashanti: We Belong Together returns to Peacock on Thursday, November 19 — and nobody has to wait a week between episodes. All eight episodes of Season 2 drop at once, exclusively on Peacock: the marriage, the baby, the businesses, and two legends still building, all in one binge.
Peacock made it official on October 15, announcing the premiere date and dropping the Season 2 trailer the same day. The renewal had actually landed back in March, and Season 1 earned it: the series debuted in June 2025 and became Peacock's second highest-reaching unscripted original freshman series. That is not a courtesy pickup — that is a hit coming back.
The soul of the new season is Ashanti taking her music back. Season 2 follows her balancing motherhood and the stage while re-recording her self-titled 2002 debut album — the record that introduced her to the world — so that she finally owns her masters. She first announced the re-recording fight back in 2021, and the late Irv Gotti publicly opposed it; the plan went ahead anyway. This summer the work got its moment: she previewed the finished re-recordings at an intimate listening event on June 17, and in the trailer she thanks Fat Joe for supporting her through the process. Twenty-four years after that album changed her life, she has recorded it again — this time on her own terms.
Nelly's side of the season asks a harder question: how much road is left? After years of nonstop touring, he reflects on the physical toll the road takes at this stage of his life. And an unexpected family loss — the season carries it the way Peacock's own synopsis does, plainly — refocuses his priorities on what all the touring is supposed to be for.
At the center of it all is home. The couple is raising their son Kareem — KK — now a full toddler, splitting their life between St. Louis and New York City, with Ashanti recording new music with other artists and still making time for the girlfriends who keep her grounded. Peacock's framing line for the season could just as well be the couple's whole story: "Belonging together isn't about standing still; it's about building a future on their own terms."
If Season 1 was the reunion, Season 2 is the legacy. That word runs through everything Peacock has said about the new episodes — taking control of the future instead of just celebrating the past. It is why the masters fight matters, why the touring question matters, and why a show about a married couple and their toddler lands heavier than pure nostalgia: these two are deciding, on camera, what the next chapter of two legendary careers is going to look like.
The refresher, for anyone who missed the first act: they met at the 2003 Grammys — where, in the story they have told ever since, he asked her for her autograph. They dated through the 2000s, split in 2013, and found their way back to each other a decade later. They married in December 2023, and KK was born in July 2024. Between them they hold four Grammys — three for Nelly, and one for Ashanti, for that very debut album she has now re-recorded to own. Full circle is not a metaphor here. It is the track listing.
And yes, the trailer has the crossover moment everybody will clip: the couple heads to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, bickers on the way over forgotten lotion, and Nelly says it himself — "Nelly is a Swiftie." Two of music's most self-assured legends, arguing about lotion on the way to the biggest wedding of the year. Some things fame cannot fix, and the show is better for it.
We Belong Together is produced by Pantheon Media Group and Velvet Hammer Media, with Cornell Haynes Jr. and Ashanti Haynes as executive producers and Oji Singletary as executive producer and showrunner. All eight episodes of Season 2 premiere Thursday, November 19, exclusively on Peacock — the same day GTA VI finally launches, for anybody keeping a calendar. Clear the evening. The second chance earned a second season; now it gets its binge.
