FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2026 — The Friday injury reports are final, and the news Baltimore dreaded all week is now official: Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is OUT for Sunday night against the Falcons, head coach Jesse Minter announced Friday. Jackson missed all three practices with the ankle injury, and there was never a realistic path to him suiting up — but seeing the official designation still lands like a gut punch for a team already gasping for air.
01 Lamar Is Out, and the Numbers Without Him Are Ugly
Let's start with the facts, because they're cold: Jackson is 68-of-96 for 967 yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception this season, and the Ravens are 6-11 in the last 17 games he has missed. They went 2-2 without him last season. The guy who takes over Sunday night, Tyler Huntley, is 5-6 as a starter across 16 starts — but he is 2-0 in 2025 and went 8-of-9 for 63 yards in relief against the Titans last week. He isn't a stranger to this offense, and he isn't a stranger to winning games.
That said, the drop-off from a two-time MVP to a backup is the single biggest personnel change in Week 5, and the Falcons know it. Atlanta has had all week to prepare for Huntley instead of Jackson, which changes everything about how they defend the run and the edges. Baltimore's margin for error, already thin, just got thinner — and they lost more than their quarterback on Friday's report. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson is out with a finger injury and center Cam Jurgens is out in the concussion protocol, which means the Ravens are down their signal-caller, their most dangerous pass rusher, and the man in the middle of the offensive line on the same Sunday night.

02 Atlanta's Side of the Sunday-Night Bill
The Falcons aren't exactly healthy either, and their injury report has a record hanging in the balance. Left tackle Jake Matthews is questionable with a groin injury — and his NFL-record streak of 199 straight starts is in jeopardy. That's the kind of iron-man number you don't want to see end, and the Falcons won't make the call until Sunday.
Linebacker Yasir Abdullah is OUT with a hamstring, and three more defenders are questionable: linebacker Divine Deablo (hamstring), edge rusher Za'Darius Smith (concussion), and Samson Ebukam (hamstring). If Deablo and Smith can't go, Atlanta's defense gets a whole lot thinner right when they need bodies to deal with Baltimore's run game — Jackson or no Jackson. Sunday night football is suddenly a battle of which team's missing stars hurt less.
03 Denver's Secondary Is in Trouble Against the Chargers
The Broncos got hammered on Friday: cornerbacks Pat Surtain and Riley Moss are both OUT against the Chargers — Surtain with an ankle, Moss with ribs. You do not want to walk into a divisional game missing your top two corners, and the Broncos will lean hard on Jahdae Barron and Kris Abrams-Draine to hold the fort. That's a big ask against a Chargers offense that will attack the perimeter all afternoon.

Denver also put wide receiver Pat Bryant on injured reserve with an ankle injury, costing him a minimum of four games. The Chargers, meanwhile, have their own injury crisis: wide receiver Quentin Johnston, offensive tackle Joe Alt, cornerback Donte Jackson, defensive back Derwin James, offensive lineman Trevor Penning, receiver Brenen Thompson, and lineman Kayode Awosika are all out. Somebody's depth is about to get tested, and both teams are going to find out which backups are ready for October football.
04 Packers and Bears Take Hits on Both Sides
Green Bay's offense takes another dent: running back Chris Brooks is OUT with an ankle injury and wide receiver Savion Williams is out for Sunday's game against the Bears. The Packers' skill-position depth keeps getting thinner, and Chicago's defense will look to make the depleted backfield one-dimensional.
But the Bears have their own problem: leading rusher Kyle Monangai is out with a toe injury. Losing your top back is never just a personnel note — it changes play-action, it changes third-down packages, it changes everything the offense wants to be. This game just got uglier, and the total will tell you the market agrees.
05 Gonzalez Out Again; Jeanty Is a Game-Time Call
The Patriots will be without star cornerback Christian Gonzalez for a second straight game against the Raiders — he missed his sixth consecutive practice with a shoulder injury. Gonzalez is the kind of player whose absence re-draws the opponent's entire passing map, and a 3-1 Raiders team with Kirk Cousins playing like he's 30 again is exactly the opponent you don't want to face shorthanded in the secondary.
Las Vegas has its own Friday question mark: running back Ashton Jeanty is questionable with a foot/ankle issue after sitting out Friday's practice. The Raiders need his explosiveness in the backfield, and a DNP on Friday is never what you want to see two days before kickoff. This one goes to game-time.
06 Giants, Commanders, Titans and Texans Round Out the List
The Giants are down two defenders: defensive lineman Chauncey Golston is OUT with a neck injury and could be headed to injured reserve, and safety Jason Pinnock is out in the concussion protocol. The Commanders lost wide receiver Stefon Diggs (hamstring) and quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee) — Diggs' absence guts Washington's downfield passing game.

Down in the AFC South, the Titans will be without safety Amani Hooker (concussion), while rookie receiver Carnell Tate is questionable with a back injury. The Texans ruled out wide receiver Tank Dell with a knee injury. Every one of these games on Sunday now looks a little different than it did on Tuesday — which is why the Friday report is the one that matters.
