Nottingham Forest 3, Manchester City 1 at the City Ground — Liam Delap scored twice against the club he used to play for, and City lost their third straight Premier League game.
Nottingham Forest beat Manchester City 3–1 at the City Ground in Premier League Matchday 10 on Saturday, November 7, 2026 — two goals inside 20 minutes, and a former City striker doing most of the damage.
Forest had waited the best part of eight and a half hours to score in front of their own fans, and the drought ended in the sixth minute from an unlikely source. Centre-back Jair Cunha robbed Josko Gvardiol high up the pitch, advanced into the area and slotted past Gianluigi Donnarumma — his first goal for Forest.
It was 2–0 in the 18th minute. Elliot Anderson and Iliman Ndiaye left the ball to each other in the Forest half, Liam Delap pounced, ran all the way into the City area and fired an unstoppable shot past Donnarumma. Opta noted it was the earliest City had gone 2–0 down in a Premier League match since November 2019. James McAtee almost made it three soon after, skying an effort from 16 yards.
City had their chances. Marc Guehi's cross found Enzo Fernandez at six yards in the 25th minute and he could not keep his header down, and Erling Haaland rounded Matz Sels in the 40th minute only to see Jair Cunha clear his shot heroically off the line.
City got one back in the 52nd minute — Jeremy Doku clear down the left, his cross deflected into Rayan Cherki's path, and Cherki slammed a half-volley into the top corner from the edge of the area. Haaland curled an effort just over soon after, and Ryan Yates saw a shot cannon off Anderson and loop onto the top of the crossbar at the other end.
Delap settled it in the 73rd minute with a length-of-the-pitch breakaway. He set Morgan Gibbs-White free in their own half, Gibbs-White returned the ball, and Delap sent an emphatic finish crashing in off the far post — a goal that sent Forest head coach Oliver Glasner sprinting down the touchline.
The brace carries a piece of history with it. Per Opta, Delap is just the second player to score twice in a Premier League match against Manchester City after previously representing them in the competition, after Nicolas Anelka did it for Bolton Wanderers in December 2006. It was Delap's second Premier League brace, after his two for Ipswich Town against Aston Villa in September 2024 — and a sharp turnaround for a striker who had scored once in his opening eight games following his club-record move from Chelsea.
The win is Forest's first in the league at the City Ground since April and ends a five-game winless run; Opta records that it lifts Forest to 16th and drops Manchester United into the relegation zone overnight. City's third straight Premier League defeat leaves them six points behind leaders Arsenal going into the international break.
