Philadelphia Union 4, Toronto FC 1 at Subaru Park — Cavan Sullivan scored twice, Quinn Sullivan added a penalty and two assists, and the brothers became the third pair in MLS history to each score for the same club in the same match.

Philadelphia Union closed the regular season at Subaru Park in Chester on Saturday, November 7, 2026 — MLS Decision Day — with a 4-1 win over Toronto FC that turned, goal by goal, into a Sullivan family production. Cavan Sullivan scored the first and third goals, Quinn Sullivan scored the second and set up two, and Bruno Damiani's penalty finished a four-goal afternoon that locked the Union into sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

Quinn thought he had opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing a flowing move that Cavan helped build with a backheel — but a VAR review found Quinn offside and wiped the goal away. The one that counted arrived at 28': Quinn crossed in front of goal, Indiana Vassilev settled it and pulled goalkeeper William Yarbrough out of position, and Cavan finished from very close range with his left foot for 1-0. At 41', Richard Chukwu brought Cavan down in the box, and Quinn drove the penalty into the top-left corner for 2-0.

Toronto's half still had one more turn. Frankie Westfield struck in stoppage time, only for a second Union goal to be disallowed — Quinn ruled to have obstructed Yarbrough's line of sight from an offside position — and Toronto took the reprieve straight down the other end: Josh Sargent headed in a Djordje Mihailovic corner at 45'+7', off the post, to make it 2-1 at the break. It was Sargent's 10th goal of the season, making him the first Toronto player to reach double figures in a regular season since Alejandro Pozuelo in 2019.

Andrew Rick replaced Andre Blake in the Philadelphia goal at half-time, and the brothers settled the game 13 minutes after the restart. At 58', Damiani flicked a header on, Quinn led the break and squared the ball to a trailing Cavan, who met it first time with his left foot for 3-1 — Quinn's first-ever primary assist to his younger brother. The fourth came from the spot again: Matheus Pereira fouled Quinn in the box, and Damiani converted the 73rd-minute penalty into the bottom corner, his 13th goal of the season. In stoppage time, captain Alejandro Bedoya came on for Quinn — the 288th and final regular-season appearance of a career that ends when he retires at the end of this season.

ESPN's match record confirms the shape of it: Philadelphia outshot Toronto 19-6 and put nine shots on target to Toronto's one, despite holding only 43.1% of the ball.

How the Game Turned

Five times in the first half the ball ended up in a net, and only three of them counted. Quinn's 11th-minute finish was chalked off for offside after the VAR review, and for a while Philadelphia's afternoon threatened to become a story about near misses. Cavan's opener at 28' settled that — a move his brother started, Vassilev continued and the 17-year-old finished into an empty net. When Chukwu fouled Cavan at 41', Quinn took the penalty his brother had won and made it 2-0. Then came the strangest sequence of the half: Westfield's stoppage-time strike disallowed for Quinn's offside obstruction, Toronto racing forward from the restart, and Sargent rising at the far end to head Mihailovic's corner in off the post at 45'+7'. A game Philadelphia had controlled walked into half-time at 2-1, live again.

The second half belonged to the same two names. Philadelphia's third goal, at 58', was the brothers in combination — Damiani's flick, Quinn's break, Cavan's first-time finish — and it restored the two-goal cushion Toronto's header had cut. Both penalties on the day were won by a Sullivan: Cavan drew the first, Quinn drew the second, when Pereira brought him down in the box, and Damiani's conversion at 73' closed the scoring. Toronto, who had seen more of the ball all afternoon, managed one shot on target in 90 minutes; Philadelphia's 19 shots told the truer story of where the danger lived.

Per the Associated Press, Cavan and Quinn Sullivan became the third pair of brothers in MLS history to each score for the same club in the same match, joining Gonzalo and Federico Higuaín and Diego and Yimmi Chara. Cavan, 17 years old, finished the regular season with nine goals and 14 assists — per Field Level Media, extending his record for the most goal contributions in a single MLS season by a teenager. Quinn's line — a goal and two assists — included the first primary assist of his career to his brother.

The result carried the stakes Decision Day exists for. Philadelphia finish 14-12-8 on 50 points, sixth in the Eastern Conference, with an automatic berth into a best-of-three first-round series against No. 3 seed New England Revolution — the Wild Card game avoided on the final day. The win ended a four-match winless run and sealed the club's 10th postseason appearance, its eighth in nine seasons; since interim head coach Ryan Richter took over during the World Cup break, per AP, Philadelphia have taken 43 of a possible 57 points while outscoring opponents 48-22. Toronto's season is over: 9-13-12, 39 points, 12th in the East, and still without a road win in Philadelphia since March 2019. Bedoya's farewell came with a playoff run still ahead of him — his final regular-season appearance, not yet his final one in blue and gold.
