Sunday, 2:00 PM PT — What happened since this morning. The Rams pulled off the afternoon's stunner in Philadelphia, the Patriots ambushed the Bills in Buffalo, the Coast Guard gave its first full briefing on the missing medical jet off Nantucket, and the UN says the world's grocery bill just hit a four-year high.
1. Rams 24, Eagles 20 — a fourth-quarter stunner in Philly
The Los Angeles Rams stormed back from a 20-10 halftime hole to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 at Lincoln Financial Field, scoring 14 fourth-quarter points on two Kyren Williams touchdown runs — a 4-yarder with 3:59 to play and a 7-yarder with 1:10 left. Philadelphia never trailed until that final score, then went backward on its last drive as Byron Young sacked Jalen Hurts twice to seal the Rams' first win over the Eagles since 2020. The win evens the Rams' record at 2-2 after a sloppy afternoon of penalties, drops and two Matthew Stafford interceptions that nearly buried them.
The Eagles' offense sputtered all afternoon — 0-for-12 on third down, 172 total yards, and Hurts finished 12-of-27 for 93 yards with two touchdowns, both to Darius Cooper. The injury toll grew too: Saquon Barkley exited on the second snap with a right hamstring injury and Tank Bigsby also left, on top of a sideline already missing DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Lane Johnson. Philadelphia now heads to London for Jacksonville on Oct. 11 with real questions about its protection and second-half offense. (Barkley's injury, Week 4 guide)

2. Patriots 29, Bills 26 — New England ambushes Buffalo
The New England Patriots stunned the Buffalo Bills 29-26 in Buffalo, with Josh Allen's late interception sealing it and the Bills falling to 3-1. Drake Maye threw two touchdown passes to Romeo Doubs as New England opened the second half with a 73-yard, 14-play touchdown drive to retake the lead, then took it back again in the fourth for good. Buffalo's offense never found rhythm — the Bills were bad in all three phases, per the Democrat and Chronicle's live coverage.
The loss ends Buffalo's unbeaten start and hands the Patriots their second win (2-2). For Allen, it's a gut-punch at home in a game the Bills led early and let slip. The Bills get a week to stew on it; the Pats get proof their rebuild has teeth. (Week 4 guide)
3. Nantucket search: debris confirmed, sonar hunt begins
At a Sunday news conference, Coast Guard Northeast District commander Rear Adm. Matt Lake said search crews had combed more than 2,800 square miles over 53-plus hours for the missing medical jet and were deploying sonar to scour the seabed where a debris field was confirmed Saturday off Nantucket. The Gulfstream G100 — a Latitude Air Ambulance flight from Bermuda to Boston carrying four Canadians and two Bermudian nationals — lost contact early Saturday after plunging 13,000 feet in about two minutes from 24,000 feet. Air-traffic audio reported by Boston 25 suggests the pilot declared an emergency, with a controller heard asking, "You said you're coming in blind?"
Crews will "continue to search and saturate the area until we're at the point where we are confident that if there were any survivors remaining on the surface of the water, we would have found them," said Capt. John McTamney, the district's chief of response. Next of kin are being updated as the search continues. (our earlier story)

4. World food prices hit a near four-year high
World food prices rose in September to their highest in nearly four years, the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization said in data released today, citing logistics disruptions and weather worries across crop markets. FAO chief economist Maximo Torero pointed to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and the Black Sea combining with climate shocks to put pressure on energy, transport and key food commodities. "If sustained, these pressures will soon pass through to consumer food prices, especially in food and energy import-dependent countries," he said.
Why it matters: this is the kind of slow-building pressure that eventually shows up at the grocery checkout. Watch October inflation data and what central bankers say about it — today's number is the starting gun for that conversation.
Still developing this afternoon
Still developing: game-day Sunday rolls on
The Raiders and Chiefs — both 3-0 — kicked off at 1:25 PM PT at Allegiant Stadium for first place in the AFC West, while the Aces tipped off against the Valkyries in Game 1 of the WNBA semifinals at 1 PM PT on NBC and Peacock. Down the road at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the South Point 400 runs this afternoon. (Raiders-Chiefs, Aces-Valkyries)
Still developing: tonight's launch, and the Malibu question mark
SpaceX's Tranche 1 launch from Vandenberg is on the clock for 1:17 AM PT tonight, carrying 21 satellites — a Monday-morning headline in the making. And in Malibu, we're still waiting on official word from L.A. County lifeguards on the reported kayaker shark attack at Paradise Cove this morning; that story stays in the developing file until officials confirm it. (SpaceX, Malibu)
