The most successful film franchise on Earth is about to get a new home — and it is not inside a theme park. Disney Theatrical Group and Lightstorm Entertainment Inc., James Cameron's production company, have licensed AVATAR: Guardians of Eywa, an immersive walkthrough experience that ends with a live acrobatic performance. The world premiere is set for May 17, 2027, at Table Rock Centre in Niagara Falls, Canada, where it will play a multi-show engagement through early September 2027 before packing up and touring the world.
A walk through Pandora, then the show
The format is the interesting part. Guardians of Eywa is built as a "Magic Walk" — guests are not seated for the first stretch of the experience at all. Instead, you wander. The journey opens in environments modeled on Pandora's rainforest and its coastal reef, filled with interactive installations designed to let visitors engage directly with the planet's flora and fauna. The reporting describes a seamless blend of live performance, narrative and immersive technology, with the whole thing running about an hour.
Then the walking ends and the spectacle begins. The experience culminates in a live acrobatic show built around the themes the films keep returning to — connection, and the cycle of life among the Na'vi. Concept renderings released with the announcement show blue, Na'vi-inspired performers in a dense rainforest setting, including aerial work high above the floor and a performer balanced inside a glowing circular apparatus ringed with strands of purple and pink light, with the audience close in around the performance area. It looks intimate in a way arena-scale touring shows usually are not.

Who is actually building it
Read the credits carefully, because this is a licensing play, not a Disney-built attraction. The experience was developed by IMMEX and is produced by EMM Williams Productions, a Montreal-based company. Design and creative production come from Moment Factory, the Quebec entertainment studio whose resume runs to more than 600 projects worldwide, including its Lumina night walks and the AURA experience in Montreal. Funding comes from private investment alongside support from the Government of Canada's Creative Export Canada program — which fits the plan, since the production is explicitly designed to export.
The people involved are talking about it like a launchpad, not a one-off. EMM Williams president Tony Haswani called the production a defining moment for his company and for immersive live entertainment, and framed the Niagara premiere as the start of a global journey for the Magic Walk format. Moment Factory's Jonathan St-Onge, executive director of its Originals division, said his team dove deep into the world of Avatar to build something authentic for Niagara visitors, and thanked Disney Theatrical and Lightstorm for trusting them with the story world.

Why Niagara Falls
The location is doing double duty. Practically, Table Rock Centre sits at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls inside Niagara Parks, one of the highest-traffic tourist sites in North America — a built-in audience of millions who are already there to look at something spectacular. Thematically, it is hard to imagine a better match for Avatar than one of the planet's great natural wonders; Ontario's tourism minister, Zee Hamid, tied the premiere to the province's Destination Niagara strategy, and Niagara Parks chair Graham Coveney pitched the Falls as a place where iconic natural beauty meets extraordinary experiences.
There is a hometown thread, too. Cameron grew up in Chippawa, just up the river from the Falls — Disney previously staged a Way of Water celebration at Niagara Falls in 2022, projecting imagery from the film over the water with a drone show. Bringing the franchise's first big live production home, in a sense, is a nice bit of symmetry.
Not a theme park ride — and that's the point
To be clear about what this is not: Guardians of Eywa is separate from Pandora — The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida, and separate again from the Avatar experience Disney is developing for Disney California Adventure. Nobody is getting on a banshee in Niagara Falls. What Disney and Lightstorm are doing instead is treating Avatar the way Disney Theatrical treats its stage properties — as a world that can tour. A walkthrough-plus-acrobatics hybrid can be rebuilt in venue after venue, in cities that will never have a Disney park, at a fraction of the cost of a land. If it works at the Falls next summer, expect the map of future stops to fill in quickly.

What we don't know yet
Pricing, ticket on-sale dates and capacity are all still under wraps — the announcement promises details in the coming months, and a waitlist signup is already live for people who want first word. Also unconfirmed: which cities get the tour after the Niagara engagement wraps in early September 2027, and whether the experience changes as it travels. For now, the date to circle is May 17, 2027. Pandora has been a movie, a land and a phenomenon. Next spring, it becomes a walk you can take — with one of the world's great waterfalls right outside the door.
