NASHVILLE (FICTIONAL)
The 9-1-1 franchise's Music City chapter is back tonight, and it is not easing into Season 2. "Going Rogue," airing at 9/7c on ABC, opens with the 113 responding to a museum overrun by hornets — and that, per the season's trailer coverage, is the tame part. Someone is staging crimes styled on the plagues of the Old Testament across Nashville, and the case brings a new face into the 113's orbit.
That face is Ryan Phillippe, the season's headline addition as a series regular. He plays Detective Rogue Kelly, an East Coast homicide detective who transferred to Nashville after seeing too much darkness in New York and hoping for a slower pace. Showrunner Rashad Raisani has teased that Rogue instead walks into the case of his life: the premiere puts him on the biblically themed crimes while Don Hart works the emergencies, and the two men's worlds collide from the first episode. TV Insider's trailer breakdown has Don asking the obvious question — what a homicide detective is doing at a fire call — and Rogue pointing at the bodies on the ground.
The other bill coming due tonight belongs to Season 1's finale, which cut to black mid-brawl between Blythe Hart and Dixie Bennings. Raisani has confirmed the spoiler everyone needed: nobody died in the fight, though people were arrested. Season 2 picks up three weeks later, with Blythe, Dixie and Don all having agreed their triangle is destructive and needs to move forward — an uneasy peace, with Blythe now holding power over Dixie's recording contract through her own label. The network's episode description keeps it simpler: Blythe and Dixie face the consequences of their brawl, and Don pays a price too.
The full ensemble returns around them: Chris O'Donnell as Captain Don Hart, Jessica Capshaw as Blythe Hart, LeAnn Rimes as Dixie Bennings, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Cammie Raleigh, Hailey Kilgore as Taylor Thompson, Michael Provost as Ryan Hart, Juani Feliz as Roxie Alba and Hunter McVey as Blue Bennings. The series, created by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani, premiered in October 2025 and quickly became the franchise's glamour-and-family-saga entry — the emergencies are Nashville-sized, but so are the Hart family dinners.
Tonight's placement matters too. Nashville holds the middle hour of ABC's all-premiere Thursday: 9-1-1 opens its tenth season at 8/7c, Nashville follows at 9/7c, and Grey's Anatomy closes the night at 10/9c. For a second-year spinoff, that is the network saying the show is no longer the new kid — it is load-bearing. The full series run, cast and episodes live on its Previously title page.
Season 2 premieres tonight, Thursday, October 15 at 9/7c on ABC, streaming the next day on Hulu. The hornets are just the welcome committee.
