LAS VEGAS MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2026
The comeback lasted one full show. Barry Manilow, back on the Westgate stage Thursday night to a triumphant welcome, walked offstage after just two songs on Friday — telling the crowd to "talk amongst yourselves" as the band kept playing, expecting him to return. He didn't. The venue eventually announced the show was over "due to circumstances beyond our control," and Saturday's performance was canceled outright. A representative told Variety the 83-year-old is battling bronchitis.
01 A Familiar Pattern
This isn't the first abrupt ending. In August, Manilow halted a Westgate performance after 40 minutes, with "technical difficulties" given as the reason at the time, and canceled the following shows. The larger context is heavier: in December 2025, Manilow postponed a string of dates on his planned farewell tour after being diagnosed with lung cancer. A prolonged recovery forced him to push additional shows and delay the start of this Vegas residency, originally set for May. He holds the record for the most performances at the Westgate's International Theater and signed the first-ever lifetime residency contract there in 2024.
02 What's Next on the Calendar
Manilow is next scheduled to return to the Westgate October 15-17, then November 5-7 and 12-14, followed by a "Very Barry Christmas" run December 3-5, 10-12 and 17-19. Newly announced 2027 dates run February through April. Whether this week holds will depend on how quickly the bronchitis clears — at 83, coming off everything the last year has thrown at him, nobody in that theater is taking a smooth week for granted.
Manilow has earned the benefit of the doubt a hundred times over, but the pattern is getting hard to ignore — and at some point the conversation shifts from "when's the next show" to "how many more can there be." For now, Vegas holds its breath and hopes Thursday's welcome-back wasn't the last full one.
