BigXthaPlug Reveals 'Better Over Time' Features — Lil Yachty, GloRilla, Ava Max and More — Ahead of October 30 Release

The Dallas hitmaker let seven cities break the news: billboards in each featured artist's hometown revealed the lineup for his fourth studio album, Better Over Time, before he confirmed it on Instagram. The album, led by 'LITE,' arrives October 30.

Dallas has a way of announcing itself, and this month it announced an album. BigXthaPlug, the Dallas rapper whose baritone has carried him from regional star to one of the most streamed artists in American music, has set his fourth studio album, Better Over Time, for release on October 30 — and he revealed who is on it the old-fashioned way: by putting their faces on billboards in their own hometowns and letting the cities figure it out first.

A rollout built out of hometowns

The billboards appeared across seven cities, each one tied to the featured artist it showed, according to The Source, which first reported the full lineup, and BroadwayWorld, which published photos of the rollout. Atlanta got Lil Yachty. Memphis got GloRilla. Los Angeles got Ava Max and Leon Thomas. Miami got Loe Shimmy, Dallas got Ro$ama, Philadelphia got Fridayy, and Detroit got BabyFace Ray. BigXthaPlug then confirmed the complete list himself on Instagram, presenting the billboards as a wall of television screens — the nine names above, plus Belly Gang Kushington, who anchors the album's lead single.

It is a shrewd piece of staging, because the guest list is the story. Better Over Time is not a Dallas-only record, and it is not a rap-only record either. It pairs Southern rap heavyweights with pop and R&B voices — Ava Max's dance-pop, Leon Thomas's slow-burn soul, Fridayy's melodic Philadelphia R&B — in a way that mirrors exactly how BigXthaPlug has built his audience: one foot planted in Texas rap tradition, the other stepping wherever the song wants to go. "LITE" sets the table

The album is led by "LITE," featuring Atlanta's Belly Gang Kushington, which arrived with a music video co-directed by BigXthaPlug himself alongside longtime collaborator Jerry Morka. Directing his own lead video is a statement of intent for an artist at this stage of a career: the rollout, the guest list and the visuals are all being run out of his own camp. The single was teased in August and released in September, giving the album a running start into its October 30 street date.

The timing matters, too. Late October is crowded territory on the release calendar — John Legend's Pharrell-produced Muse lands a week earlier, on October 23 — and a nine-feature album with a billboard campaign behind it is clearly built to compete for the whole season, not just a weekend. For a Dallas artist, there is also something fitting about the hometown-first reveal: Ro$ama's billboard stood in Dallas, a reminder that however national the guest list gets, the center of gravity stays home.

The record it has to follow

Better Over Time follows I Hope You're Happy (2025), the genre-blending album that debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while reaching No. 2 on both the Country and Rap album charts — a combination The Source and BroadwayWorld both note is close to unheard of for a single project. That record also earned a Best Country Album nomination at the American Music Awards and put BigXthaPlug on the cover of Rolling Stone's Future of Music issue, photographed by David LaChapelle.

That is the bar. A rapper from Dallas made an album that charted near the top of two genres at once, and the follow-up's title — Better Over Time — reads like a direct response to anyone wondering whether he can do it again. The Source credits BigXthaPlug with more than 10.7 billion global streams across his catalog; that figure comes from the label-side reporting around the announcement, and we cite it as reported rather than independently audited. Even treated conservatively, the scale is real: multiple No. 1 records, a platinum plaque collection, and a feature list that artists with twice his tenure would struggle to assemble.

Why this guest list works

Look at the nine features as a map of where BigXthaPlug's music already lives. Lil Yachty and BabyFace Ray bring the melodic, conversational end of modern rap. GloRilla brings Memphis energy and one of the most recognizable voices in the genre. Loe Shimmy and Ro$ama represent the next wave coming up behind him — the kind of co-signs that run in both directions. And the singers — Ava Max, Leon Thomas, Fridayy, Belly Gang Kushington — give the album the hooks and choruses that carried I Hope You're Happy across genre lines in the first place.

There is risk in a tracklist this crowded; nine guests can smother a host. But the billboard rollout suggests an album sequenced around moments, each feature planted in a city like a flag. If Better Over Time holds together the way its predecessor did, October 30 will not just be a release date — it will be the moment the Dallas experiment stops being an experiment and becomes the model. The album arrives on streaming services October 30. Until then, "LITE" is the preview, and the billboards, presumably, are still up.
