Coachella has not announced its 2027 lineup. There is no poster, no lineup video, no word from Goldenvoice. What there is, as of this weekend, is a report with names on it — and one of the names just cosigned it in public. On Friday, October 30, TMZ reported that Dua Lipa, SZA and Tame Impala are "nearly confirmed" as performers for Coachella 2027, citing sources with direct knowledge of the booking. Consequence, reporting on the same story the same day, named the three as the festival's headliners. Then, on Saturday, SZA shared a screenshot of TMZ's report to her alternate Instagram account — and used the caption to talk about the album she has not finished yet.
"Headed to Tahiti to work this album some more," she wrote. "Mulling over big decisions. Saying yes when ur unprepared is crazy. Been doing it my whole career tho lol .. might as well." That is not a press release, and it is not an official confirmation — Consequence described it as SZA "seemingly" confirming the headline slot, and that hedge is the honest one. But headliners do not usually amplify a false report about themselves and then joke about having said yes. The poster has not dropped. The top of it is leaking anyway.
What is reported, and what is actually official
Precision matters here, because the gap between the two is the story. TMZ's own wording was "nearly confirmed as performers" — USA Today, in its October 30 coverage, flagged exactly that: "Key word: performers. TMZ did not call them headliners and it's not confirmed." Consequence and Stereogum both read the bookings as the three headline slots, and the reporting underneath them has been building for two months. In September, the industry publication Hits Daily Double reported that Dua Lipa and Tame Impala were expected to headline, with Fred again.. in the poster's special "Returning to the Desert" slot and SZA in talks for the third headline spot. TMZ's report lands in the same place, with SZA's slot firmed up. Two independent reporting lines, arriving at the same three names, plus the artist sharing it herself — that is strong smoke. It is still not fire until Goldenvoice prints the poster, and TMZ says the full lineup announcement is expected soon.
What is official, already, is everything around the music. Goldenvoice announced the 2027 dates the morning after the 2026 festival closed: Coachella returns to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, for Weekend 1 on April 9–11, 2027 and Weekend 2 on April 16–18, 2027, with the same lineup both weekends. The advance sale opened May 1, 2026 — general admission started at $599 for Weekend 1 and $549 for Weekend 2 — and those passes sold out before a single artist was named. Coachella's own site now tells latecomers to buy after the lineup is announced, when the remaining passes go on sale, and official waitlists and the AXS resale are the routes in the meantime. The festival sold out blind. Whoever is on the poster, the desert was already full.
The trio, one by one
SZA is the storyline. Her most recent studio album, SOS, was released in 2022 — which means she is reportedly about to headline the biggest stage in American festival music while still writing its follow-up, and she said as much herself in the caption. She is not a Coachella stranger: she has played the festival twice before, including a main-stage set in 2018, and she was back in the desert this past April as a surprise guest, joining Justin Bieber to sing "Snooze." A headline slot would be her first — a coronation she appears to be finishing the album to deserve, on a deadline the whole internet can now see.

Dua Lipa would be the debut. Of the three reported names, she is the only one who has never been on a Coachella bill — her entire history with the festival is a 2017 guest appearance alongside Martin Garrix. Since then she has become one of the defining pop acts of the decade, and reporting on her next album points to 2027 — the same year she would walk onto the main stage in Indio for the first time, at the very top of the poster. Coachella loves a first-timer in the headline slot when the timing is that clean.

Tame Impala is the returning champion. Kevin Parker's project has played Coachella four times — 2011, 2013, 2015 and a headline set in 2019 — and the desert is arguably where the rest of America caught up to him. A 2027 headline slot makes him the anchor of the trio: the one who has closed that stage before, on a bill otherwise built on firsts. And underneath the three names sits one more reported booking worth watching: Fred again.., who Hits Daily Double placed in the "Returning to the Desert" slot back in September — the poster's special billing, reserved for the act the festival treats as an event unto itself.
The ones who said no
The report's other half is who is not coming. According to TMZ, organizers also pursued BTS and Rage Against the Machine for Coachella 2027, and both acts passed. Rage would have been a piece of festival mythology — the band headlined the first Coachella in 1999, returned in 2007, and was booked again for the 2020 edition that COVID cancelled. BTS, who have never played Coachella, would have been a first. Neither is happening, per the report — which is part of how the top of the poster ended up looking the way it reportedly does.
Against last year, this is a different kind of bill
Set the reported trio next to the one that just played. Coachella 2026 was headlined by Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G — the festival's first Latina headliner, per USA Today's coverage. The reported 2027 bill answers with a study in contrasts: one returning headliner (Tame Impala, back after eight years), one first-time headliner with a history at the festival (SZA, twelve years after her first Coachella set), and one total newcomer to the bill (Dua Lipa). No legacy act, no reunion play — three contemporary hitmakers, each arriving at a different point in the story. If the poster confirms it, Coachella 2027 is a bet on the present tense.
The Entertainment Desk's read: the name to watch is SZA, and not because of the booking — because of the clock. A headliner racing to finish the album the set is supposed to sell is the oldest Coachella storyline there is, and she just told everyone, in her own words, that she said yes before she felt ready. Either the record lands and April becomes its victory lap, or the desert gets a headline set built on a five-year-old album and a promise. Both are worth the trip. — Previously Staff
And yes, you can watch from the couch through 2030
One piece of 2027 business is fully official and already signed. In September, YouTube and Goldenvoice renewed their exclusive livestream and content partnership through 2030, keeping Coachella streaming exclusively on YouTube for both weekends. April 2027 marks 15 years of the partnership, per YouTube's announcement. So whenever the poster does drop — and every indication says soon — the couch seats are already reserved for the rest of the decade. Until then, the desert waits on three names, one unfinished album, and a poster that cannot stay unprinted much longer. More music coverage lives on Previously's Music front.
