Dancing with the Stars Goes Mariah Carey Tonight: Full Song List for Week 4

Season 35’s Week 4 is Mariah Carey Night, live Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm ET on ABC and Disney+, streaming next day on Hulu. Twelve celebrities remain, one more duo goes home — and the full song list is a tour through the Songbird Supreme’s catalog, from “Vision of Love” to “Obsessed.”

The Short Version

The ballroom is about to get a whole lot of whistle notes. Dancing with the Stars Season 35 hits Week 4 tonight — Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm ET, live on ABC and Disney+, streaming the next day on Hulu — and the theme is Mariah Carey Night, a full evening set to the catalog of the Songbird Supreme herself.

This is one of those theme nights that makes you wonder why it took 35 seasons. Mariah’s catalog is practically choreography-ready: the big ballads that were born for the Viennese Waltz, the attitude-heavy uptempos that beg for a Latin routine. Twelve celebrities remain, and every one of them is dancing to Mimi tonight — with another elimination looming at the end of the episode.

The full song list

Here is every dance and song on the Week 4 card, per lohud:

Julia Stiles & Ezra Sosa open the ballroom side of the night with a Viennese Waltz to “Vision of Love” — the debut single that introduced the world to Mariah in 1990, and a fittingly sweeping choice for the season’s first Mariah night. Jenna Dewan & Val Chmerkovskiy take on a Rumba to “My All,” one of Mariah’s most aching ballads, while Amber Glenn & Pasha Pashkov also dance a Rumba, to “Hero.” Two rumbas on one night is a judges’ dream — same dance, same standard, nowhere to hide.

On the high-energy end, Harry Shum Jr. & Jenna Johnson get a Tango to “It’s Like That” (featuring Jermaine Dupri and Fatman Scoop) — a sharp, aggressive song for a sharp, aggressive dance, and a pairing with real contender energy. Guillermo Rodriguez takes on a Samba to “Obsessed,” which might be the most perfectly cast song of the night: the fan-favorite Jimmy Kimmel Live! sidekick dancing to Mariah’s most unhinged kiss-off anthem is appointment television.

The rest of the card: Maura Higgins dances a Waltz to “If It’s Over”; Ciara Miller takes a Jazz routine to “Emotions”; Tatyana Ali dances a Waltz to “Fantasy”; Ezra Frech performs a Rumba to “Anytime You Need A Friend”; Connor Wood dances a Rumba to “Touch My Body”; Jackson Olson takes a Waltz to “Without You”; and Tyler Cameron closes things out with a Foxtrot to “#Beautiful.”

That is three waltzes, three rumbas, and a little bit of everything else — and notice the ballad-to-banger ratio. The producers clearly understand that Mariah night lives or dies on the slow songs, where the emotion sells the dance, and the fast ones, where the attitude does.

Who’s already gone — and who’s in danger

Four duos have been eliminated so far: Conner Leavitt and Adele Zaikman on premiere night one, Sarah Jane Nader and Hailey Bills on premiere night two, Giada De Laurentiis and Alan Bersten on Viral Hits Night, and Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart on Yacht Rock Night, per cincinnati.com. Another celebrity/pro duo will be eliminated this week, per lohud.

That is the part of the night nobody is talking about but everybody is thinking about. Mariah night should, in theory, be kind to the weaker dancers — a great song can carry a shaky routine further than a great routine can carry a dead song. But the judges have seen three weeks of this cast now, and the patience for “but the song was great” runs out fast. The couples at the bottom of the leaderboard coming into tonight are the ones who should be nervous: a theme night this beloved raises the bar for everyone.

How to watch

Dancing with the Stars airs live Tuesday, October 6 at 8pm ET on ABC and Disney+, and streams the next day on Hulu. If you are voting, remember the drill: votes during the live broadcast (and the Disney+ simulcast) are what keep your favorites out of the bottom two.

A word on strategy, because by Week 4 this stops being a talent show and starts being a campaign. The couples with the biggest fan bases — and the ones whose songs give them a moment — are the ones who survive theme nights. A Viennese Waltz to “Vision of Love” is the kind of pairing that can turn a middle-of-the-pack couple into a voter magnet, because the song does the emotional lifting while the dance just has to not get in the way. Conversely, the double Rumba setup (“My All” versus “Hero”) is a direct comparison the judges will absolutely make out loud, and whichever couple comes out second-best in that comparison is in trouble.

Honestly? This is the week to tune in even if you’ve been half-watching. Theme nights are where Dancing with the Stars is at its best — the costumes go bigger, the song choices do half the storytelling, and the eliminations actually sting. And a full night of Mariah Carey, sung the way only Mariah songs can be sung, is about as good as a theme gets.

More entertainment this week: the awards world is shifting under its own feet — our report on the Emmys’ six-year move to Prime Video — and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” just crossed a billion Spotify streams. It is a good week to be a music legend.
