Emily Ann Roberts Spent 2026 Opening for Her Heroes — in 2027 She's the Headliner

The announcement arrived Tuesday with a new EP, a CMA nomination and a year of sold-out rooms behind her. The Thread Tour opens February 4 in Chattanooga, makes her Ryman headline debut February 13, and runs through May — and tickets move this week, not next spring.

The Short Version

Every opener knows the math: you play your forty minutes, you win over somebody else's crowd, you pack up while the headliner's name is still glowing over the stage. Emily Ann Roberts did that math all through 2026 — and on Tuesday she announced she is done doing it. The Thread Tour, her first-ever headlining run, takes her to 23 stops in spring 2027, from a hometown night in Knoxville to her headline debut at the Ryman Auditorium. The tour is named for her new EP, Thread, which arrived October 16 — five days before the announcement. New record, new billing, same week. That is how you roll out a level-up.

"It's finally time to step out on my own"

Roberts said it plainly in the announcement. "After having the incredible opportunity to open for my heroes in this industry, it's finally time for me to step out on my own as the headliner," she shared. "2026 has been full of so many milestones for me. From my first ever sold-out shows, to being ACM and CMA nominated, my fans have made it clear they're ready to see Emily Ann headline! We're thrilled to bring my music to 23 cities in the spring of 2027." That is not boilerplate talking — the sold-out shows are real, the nominations are real, and the rooms on this route are the kind an artist books when the opening slots have started to feel too small.

The rooms that tell the story

Read the route like a résumé. The tour opens February 4 at the Walker Theatre in Chattanooga, then goes straight home: February 6 at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, Roberts's hometown. A week later comes the date every country singer circles in a different color — February 13 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, her headline debut at the Mother Church. From there the run swings through the Southeast (Oxford, Alabama on February 18; Searcy, Arkansas on February 19), jumps west for a House of Blues double and a desert night (Anaheim February 25, San Diego February 26, Phoenix's Van Buren February 27), then heads east in March: Boston's Royale on the 18th, New York's Irving Plaza on the 19th, Silver Spring on the 20th and Richmond on the 21st. April is the biggest month — Charlotte, Cincinnati, Shipshewana and Chicago to start, Durant, Oklahoma on the 9th, a honky-tonk pilgrimage to Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth on April 16, then Birmingham on the 23rd and Charleston Music Hall on the 25th. She closes in May at Delmar Hall in St. Louis on the 6th and two straight nights at Island Resort & Casino in Harris, Michigan on the 7th and 8th. Support rotates by leg: Kenny Whitmire, Cole Goodwin, Colton Dawson and Mae Estes each take a stretch, with Chicago's opener still to be announced.

The EP the tour is named for

Thread landed October 16 via RECORDS Nashville and Sony Music Nashville: five songs — the title track "Thread," plus "Lonely Boy," "Garden Grow," "When I Do" and "Laundry." Roberts co-wrote every track, and the record leans into her Appalachian roots, pairing plainspoken, heartfelt storytelling with bluegrass-inspired instrumentation. It is a deliberately small, hand-stitched record — which is exactly why the tour name works. A thread is a small thing that holds bigger things together, and this EP is clearly meant to be the thread between the opener years and whatever comes next.

The year that built this

None of this came out of nowhere. Roberts is currently nominated for New Artist of the Year at the 60th annual CMA Awards, and 2026 also brought her an ACM nomination for New Female Artist of the Year, spots in the Opry NextStage and MusicRow Next Big Thing classes of 2026, MusicRow's Discovery Artist of the Year honor and AIMP Nashville's Rising Artist-Writer of the Year award. She performed on the VIP Platform stage at Nissan Stadium during CMA Fest, headlined her first sold-out shows, and spent the year on the road with Cody Johnson and Thomas Rhett. She is not slowing down to announce this, either — later this month she joins Johnson's European tour, and she will return to the C2C Festival in 2027, the same season her own name goes on top of the poster at home.

Tickets move this week

Here is the part to act on: pre-sale tickets open Thursday, October 22, and the general on-sale follows Friday, October 23, both at 10 a.m. local time. VIP packages add a meet-and-greet with Roberts, a VIP tour gift, early entry and early merch access, and registration runs through EmilyAnnRoberts.com. A first headline tour in rooms this size, off a breakthrough year, is exactly the kind of on-sale that does not stay available out of politeness — the Knoxville and Ryman dates in particular are the sort that go first, because everybody in her home state has been waiting to say they were there at the start of this.

The Take

There is a specific moment in a country career when the opening act becomes the reason people bought the ticket, and the only way to prove it is to put your own name over the door and see if the room still fills. Roberts is making that bet with a five-song EP, a guitar and a year of receipts — sold-out rooms, two major-award nominations, and reps in front of Cody Johnson and Thomas Rhett crowds. Twenty-three dates is not a victory lap. It is a first headline tour sized exactly like an artist who intends to need a bigger one. Bet on the thread holding.
