Gucci Mane's 'Against All Odds' Arrives Friday, October 16, Led by 'Crash Dummy'

Announced on Instagram just days before release, Gucci Mane's new album lands October 16 — one day before 1017 Day — with reported appearances from Summer Walker, OJ Da Juiceman and his son Ice Davis, and April's 'Crash Dummy' setting the tone.

Gucci Mane does not do long rollouts anymore. The Atlanta rapper announced his new album, Against All Odds, on Instagram just a few days before its release, and the record arrives this Friday, October 16. There is no published tracklist yet, no months of singles strategy — just a title, a date, and a lead record that has been sitting with listeners since the spring. For an artist more than two decades into a career that essentially invented a lane of Southern rap, the short fuse is part of the point: Gucci Mane releases music the way he always has, on his own clock.

'Crash Dummy' set the table in April

The album is led by Crash Dummy, released in April 2026. The single drew attention well beyond Gucci Mane's core audience because listeners connected parts of its lyrics to a reported falling-out with Pooh Shiesty, the Memphis rapper who rose through Gucci Mane's 1017 roster. Gucci Mane never named Pooh Shiesty in the song, and he has not confirmed the target publicly — but the speculation kept the record circulating for months, and it now becomes the front door to Against All Odds. Whether the rest of the album continues in that confrontational register or pivots somewhere else is the main open question going into Friday.

What is reported about the guest list suggests range. According to Hip-Hop Vibe's reporting, carried this week by multiple radio outlets, the album features Summer Walker, OJ Da Juiceman, and Ice Davis — Gucci Mane's son. Each name signals something different. Summer Walker, the Atlanta-born R&B singer behind the Over It trilogy that concluded with Finally Over It, brings the melodic, confessional side of Atlanta music into the room. OJ Da Juiceman is a foundational 1017-era collaborator whose late-2000s run alongside Gucci Mane helped carry Atlanta trap to a national audience. And Ice Davis makes the record a family affair — a father putting his son on an album arriving in the middle of his third decade as a recording artist.

One day before 1017 Day

The calendar is doing quiet work here. Against All Odds lands October 16, one day before October 17 — 10/17 — the date built directly from the name of Gucci Mane's label, 1017 Records, and treated by his fan base as an unofficial holiday in his catalog. Last year he used the date itself: Episodes, a 23-track album released October 17, 2025, arrived alongside a memoir of the same name, with both works addressing his struggles with mental illness and addiction. OJ Da Juiceman and Sexyy Red appeared on that album. This time, reporting indicates no book or companion project accompanies the release — at least not yet — which makes Against All Odds a leaner, music-only statement arriving on the eve of his signature date rather than on it.

The recent run matters for context. In 2023, Gucci Mane released Breath of Fresh Air. In 2024 he linked with DJ Drama for Greatest of All Trappers (Gangsta Grillz Edition), a project that deliberately returned both men to the mixtape format they helped define in mid-2000s Atlanta. Episodes followed in 2025. That is three substantial projects in three years before Against All Odds — a pace that would be aggressive for a newcomer, let alone for a veteran whose earliest work, including Trap House, Hard to Kill and The State vs. Radric Davis, is now old enough to be sampled by the generation he inspired.

Why this one is worth watching

Gucci Mane's influence is usually discussed in the past tense — the mixtape run, the trap blueprint, the roster of artists he put on. Against All Odds is interesting precisely because it refuses that framing. A reported Summer Walker collaboration connects him to Atlanta's current R&B mainstream; the OJ Da Juiceman appearance honors the original 1017 story; and Ice Davis's presence literally passes the story to the next generation of his own family. Add a lead single that already carries a public storyline of its own, and Friday's release has more narrative threads than most surprise-week albums manage.

There are honest unknowns. Without a tracklist, we do not know the album's length, its producers, or whether Crash Dummy opens the record or sits deeper in the sequence. We also do not know whether the reported guest list is complete. What we know is the date, the title, the lead single, and the shape of the story around them — and for Gucci Mane, whose career has survived record-label wars, prison time, addiction and his own well-documented reinvention, Against All Odds is a title that reads less like marketing than like a summary. The album is out Friday, October 16. Crash Dummy is streaming now.
