Helluva Boss Star Brandon Rogers Erupts at NYCC Heckler: “You Need to Shut the F—k Up Right Now”

Brandon Rogers, the voice of Blitzø, lost his patience with a heckler who interrupted the Helluva Boss panel six times at New York Comic Con — then both he and NYCC organizer ReedPop issued statements about what went wrong.

New York Comic Con panels are supposed to be victory laps. On Thursday night, the Helluva Boss panel turned into something else entirely: a six-interruption heckling siege that ended with the show’s star on his feet, pointing at the door, and demanding to know where security was.

Brandon Rogers, the YouTube comedian and actor who voices the foul-mouthed imp Blitzø on Prime Video’s animated hit, finally snapped during the panel at the Javits Center’s Main Stage on October 8 — and by Friday, both Rogers and NYCC organizer ReedPop had issued public statements about the chaos.

Six interruptions too many

According to Page Six, which first reported the blowup, the trouble started almost immediately. An unidentified attendee began shouting over the cast during the panel’s opening minutes — the first interruption landing while series creator Vivienne Medrano was addressing the crowd. Medrano, who also created Hazbin Hotel, tried to defuse it with humor: “Thank you, good energy to start off,” she said, in video of the panel posted to Instagram.

The heckler didn’t stop. By the fourth interruption, Rogers had heard enough.

“You need to shut the f—k up right now. I swear to God I’m going to jump over this fence and end you. It’s not cute,” Rogers said, per Page Six. “Vivienne was just sharing a really sweet story. This is f—ing Comic-Con, guys. I’m sorry.”

When the shouting continued, Rogers stood up, walked to the front of the stage and pointed toward the exits: “You need to get the f— out right now or I will make you leave.” Turning to event staff, he added: “Isn’t there someone in a vest? Bulletproof one, maybe?”

The panel tried to move on. Then the heckler struck again — this time while voice actor Vivian Nixon was speaking about motherhood. That set Rogers off a second time: “Is anyone working at this f—ing event? Can someone please get this motherf—er the hell out of here? I swear to God.”

It remains unclear what the attendee was actually shouting; Page Six reported the remarks were unintelligible in the circulating video. A fan who attended the panel said the heckler was eventually escorted out.

Rogers: “I will always step in to protect that space”

As clips of the confrontation spread online, Rogers addressed the incident in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. The 38-year-old actor said the panel had been meant as a celebration — and drew a line between enthusiasm and sabotage.

“When a disruption crosses the line from enthusiastic fandom into disrespecting my cast mates and ruining the experience for thousands of fans who waited hours to be there, I will always step in to protect that space,” Rogers told EW. “My focus remains entirely on our amazing fans and the brilliant team behind this show.”

The panel’s lineup underscored what was at stake: alongside Rogers and Medrano were Vivian Nixon, Erica Lindbeck, Bryce Pinkham, Harvey Guillén and Richard Steven Horvitz, with Perri Nemiroff moderating, per JustJared. EW noted that Nixon is the daughter of actress and honorary Oscar recipient Debbie Allen.

ReedPop apologizes: “Action was not taken swiftly enough”

NYCC’s organizer didn’t dodge the criticism either. ReedPop issued a statement to EW calling the episode “a repeated disturbance from a fan in the audience” and conceding its response fell short.

“While the situation was addressed after the panel, action was not taken swiftly enough, and we apologize to the panelists, moderator, and fans in attendance for the disruption,” ReedPop said. “We are taking steps to ensure any future incidents are addressed in a swifter manner.”

Bleeding Cool, which also covered the fallout, noted that both statements landed within a day of the panel — a fast news cycle even by Comic Con standards, where panel incidents usually simmer for a weekend before anyone comments officially.

Why this one hit different

Convention heckling isn’t new, but the Helluva Boss panel had a particular charge to it. Medrano’s shows — brash, profane, defiantly independent in origin — were built on a direct relationship with their audience; Helluva Boss began as a YouTube series before Prime Video picked it up. A panel for a show like that isn’t a press junket. It’s a family reunion. Rogers’ fury read less like a celebrity losing his cool than a host watching someone trash his own party.

It also landed in the middle of a packed NYCC. The convention’s 2026 edition has already generated a week’s worth of headlines — from Marvel Television’s Empire Stage announcements to the first trailer for Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist: Martyrs. In that context, the Helluva Boss chaos became the weekend’s most-shared unscripted moment: not a trailer drop, but a star defending his cast in real time.

Whether ReedPop’s promised “swifter” response materializes at future events is an open question. What’s not in question is where Rogers stands. He said it twice on stage and once more in print: the space belongs to the fans who waited hours to be there — and he’ll protect it.
