One of the Strip's defining rooms is about to go dark. JEWEL Nightclub, the two-level club inside Aria Resort & Casino, will close permanently after business on Saturday, Nov. 21, MGM Resorts International announced in a release on Monday. 8 News Now reported the closure Monday, citing the MGM release, and Vegas Daily Wire reported the same announcement — the club's final night lands on the Saturday of Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, the biggest weekend on the city's calendar.
Until then, the calendar runs as usual. JEWEL has been open Friday, Saturday and Monday nights, from 10:30 p.m. to about 4 a.m., and it keeps that schedule to the end. Murphi Kennedy is booked for Friday, Nov. 20, and Kid Conrad plays the final night on Saturday, Nov. 21, according to the club's own schedule. Anyone who wants one last night in the room has a handful of dates left — and the last of them comes with race-weekend crowds and race-weekend prices.

What happens to the room afterward is an open question. MGM said it has no immediate plans for the space once the club shuts down, and the release did not say how many workers are affected. For guests, the company pointed to the rest of Aria's nightlife lineup: Easy's Cocktail Lounge, Lift Bar and Alibi Cocktail Social, a new room set to open on Friday, Nov. 13 — eight days before JEWEL's last night.
Ten years in the room Haze left behind
JEWEL opened in May 2016 in the space Haze nightclub had vacated, rebuilt from the ground up by Rockwell Group and launched by Hakkasan Group. Jamie Foxx was on hand for the opening, with sets from DJ Irie, The Chainsmokers and Lil Jon. At a little over 24,000 square feet across two levels, with room for under 2,000 people, it was always the boutique entry in a city of megaclubs — a dome ceiling wrapped in some 1,400 square feet of LED ribbon lighting, five themed VIP suites, and a mezzanine looking down on the dance floor.

Tao Group took over operations after acquiring Hakkasan Group in 2021, and the room settled into its second act: headliner weekends, and Flawless Mondays, the locals' night that kept JEWEL relevant on the quietest night of the Strip week. A decade is a long life for a Las Vegas nightclub — most rooms are renamed, remodeled or replaced well before their tenth year. JEWEL kept its name, its design and its spot at Aria for all of it.
The Take
Clubs on the Strip usually fade — a quiet remodel, a new name on the door. JEWEL gets a date certain, and the date is the story: MGM is darkening a proven room on the single biggest night of its year rather than after it, and leaving 24,000 square feet at the center of Aria unspoken for. What fills that room next says more about where Aria is headed than the closing does.
