Charli xcx, Chappell Roan and Kesha Turned a West Hollywood HIV-Prevention Party Into a Pop Summit

MISTR’s second annual National PrEP Day party at The Abbey featured a Charli xcx headline set, a Chappell Roan DJ set, and a guest list built to make HIV prevention mainstream.

On Saturday night, the most famous gay bar in America threw a party with a purpose — and half of pop music showed up. MISTR, the telehealth platform focused on HIV prevention, hosted its second annual National PrEP Day celebration at The Abbey in West Hollywood, and the night played like a pop summit with a public-health mission: Charli xcx headlined with a Brat mini-set, Chappell Roan DJed the song The Abbey itself inspired, and a guest list spanning Christina Aguilera, Kesha, Demi Lovato, Kim Petras and Tove Lo packed the room to raise awareness about PrEP, the medication that has transformed HIV prevention.

The event brought together musicians, actors, models and reality stars, Just Jared reported, all gathered around a single message: HIV prevention is healthcare, and it should be as easy to access as everything else on your phone. MISTR’s whole pitch is exactly that — a telehealth platform offering PrEP and HIV testing without the clinic waiting room.

02 Charli’s Brat set, Chappell’s full circle

Charli xcx didn’t just attend — she performed. The Brat star took the stage for a tight three-song hit — “Club classics,” “360” and “Von dutch,” per Just Jared’s setlist rundown — turning the second annual party into a genuine concert. It’s the kind of booking that tells you how seriously the music world takes this event: Charli headlining a sexual-health fundraiser on a Saturday night in October is a statement about where pop culture’s priorities are.

Then came the night’s most poetic moment. Chappell Roan — the Grammy winner whose “Pink Pony Club” is literally about The Abbey — got behind the decks and DJed her smash at the very venue that inspired it. TMZ called it a full-circle moment, and it’s hard to argue: the song that made her a star, played in the room the song is about, at a party for the cause her community has championed for decades. 03 The guest list

The room was stacked across generations of pop. Christina Aguilera, Kesha and Demi Lovato represented the established guard; Kim Petras and Tove Lo — who posed for photos together with Kesha — held down the current wave. Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Poarch crossed over from the fashion and creator worlds, and Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise showed up in force with Phaedra Parks, Meredith Marks and Sutton Stracke.

TMZ’s account of the night added Sam Asghari, Lance Bass, NeNe Leakes and Tinashe to the mix — a guest list that reads like a group chat between pop’s past, present and future. That breadth is the point: MISTR isn’t preaching to one choir, it’s trying to make PrEP conversation as mainstream as the guest list.

04 The cause behind the confetti

Strip away the celebrity and the mission is straightforward. MISTR is a telehealth company offering access to HIV prevention services — PrEP prescriptions and testing, plus free testing and DoxyPEP, a treatment that can reduce the rate of other STIs, through its sibling brand SISTR. The company launched National PrEP Day in 2025, and Saturday’s party was the second annual edition.

PrEP — pre-exposure prophylaxis, taken daily or as a twice-yearly injection — has been shown to lower the risk of HIV transmission by 99%, and MISTR’s founder and CEO Tristan Schukraft has framed the stakes plainly, as he told PEOPLE at last year’s event: “We have the power to end HIV. The tools already exist.” His pitch: taking PrEP is taking charge of your sexual health, the way the birth control pill empowered a previous generation. A party like Saturday’s is the awareness engine for that argument — star power in service of enrollment.

The playbook is deliberately repeatable: MISTR launched National PrEP Day in 2025 precisely to give the cause an annual cultural tentpole, the way breast-cancer awareness has October and Pride has June. Last year’s inaugural party doubled as the finale of a 10-day nationwide enrollment drive aiming for 10,000 new PrEP users — and this year’s deeper lineup suggests the company is scaling the model, not just repeating it. The bet is that a Saturday night at The Abbey reaches people no clinic pamphlet ever will — and with pop’s biggest names volunteering their star power two years running, the bet keeps paying off.

05 Topping last year

The inaugural National PrEP Day set a high bar: a surprise Dua Lipa performance at The Abbey, with Cardi B, Matt Bomer and Omar Apollo among the guests, capping a 10-day nationwide push to enroll 10,000 new PrEP users. Lipa tore through “New Rules,” “Don’t Start Now” and “Houdini” that night, with Bob the Drag Queen hosting and Diplo on the decks.

Year two didn’t try to out-surprise year one — it out-lined-up it. A Charli xcx headline set plus a Chappell Roan homecoming DJ set is arguably a bigger flex than a single surprise, and the guest list was deeper across the board. If the metric that matters is how many people left West Hollywood on Saturday thinking about PrEP who weren’t thinking about it on Friday, MISTR’s pop-summit strategy looks like it’s working.
