Triple-i's Fall Showcase Dropped 40 Games in 40 Minutes — and Dragon's Dogma 2's Snowy Expansion Is Out Today

BORDEAUX, FRANCE — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2026 — The Triple-i Initiative ran its first-ever fall showcase on October 8, and it did exactly what the show has always done: forty games in forty minutes, no ads, no hosts, no filler — just one announcement after another. This time, though, the show added a twist. According to Capsule Computers’ recap, it included more brand-new demos and playtests than any previous Triple-i showcase, most of them playable right now through the Triple-i Initiative sale on Steam. It is the rare gaming showcase where the call to action isn’t “wishlist it” — it’s “download it.”

02 The Headliners: Escapists 3, Among Us Story, and Friends

The biggest announcement of the show was The Escapists 3. Team17 is bringing its prison-escape series back in 2027 with the first 3D entry in the franchise — five distinct prisons, more than 120 new weapons, two-player local split-screen plus up to four players online, and an XP and skills system that carries over between prisons, per the reports. The Escapists has always been about the fantasy of the perfect breakout; going full 3D is the biggest swing the series has taken.

Then there’s Among Us Story: On Guard, from Innersloth — a detective narrative game, single-player, where you have to prove your own innocence and catch the Impostor. It’s out February 17, 2027 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and mobile, according to OutputLag’s report. The show also brought reveals for Outward 2 and ReVamp, plus a Dave the Diver crossover DLC with Subnautica 2, coming in early 2027 and bringing alien oceans to Dave’s Blue Hole, per MINTROCKET’s announcement. 03 Dark Arisen Is Out Today — and the Reviews Say It’s the Expansion Done Right

The timing of the showcase couldn’t be better for one game in particular: Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Capcom’s paid expansion, launches today, October 9. It’s out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and — notably — Nintendo Switch 2, the series’ first Switch 2 release. The price is $29.99 standalone, or $49.99 bundled with the base game; on Switch 2 the bundle is the only option.

What you get: a new snowy northern region called Norgan with a new companion, Eir, and the Fallen Dragon storyline; twelve Lost Rites dungeon challenges; a relic gear system; an expanded character creator with new hairstyles and tattoos; and a free Hard Mode update for all players — you don’t need it, but it’s there if you want it. You also don’t need to finish the base game’s story: both parts open up early, per GameDaily. The marketing is leaning into the epic, too: the new overview trailer is narrated by Ron Perlman, Fallout’s narrator, according to GamingBolt.

And the reception is real: 88 on OpenCritic, per the reviews coverage. For a paid expansion in a year when full games keep disappointing, that’s the kind of number that moves copies. An expansion that adds a whole frozen region, a new companion, twelve dungeon challenges and a gear system for thirty bucks — with reviews saying it lands — is exactly what an expansion is supposed to be.

04 Hellraiser: Revival Is Out — The First-Ever Hellraiser Game

One more thing that launched yesterday, October 8: Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival. Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games built a first-person survival horror game, and the pitch is simple — it’s the first-ever Hellraiser video game. It’s on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Switch 2, at $39.99 standard and $49.99 deluxe.

The details are the kind of thing that makes horror fans lean in. The story is by Clive Barker himself. Doug Bradley returns as Pinhead — the voice that has defined the character for decades. You play Aidan Lynch, trying to rescue his girlfriend Sunny from the Labyrinth, using the Genesis Configuration puzzle box to fight back — with pyrokinesis, telekinesis and Hell Chains, per the game’s announcement coverage. Game Informer reported on the October launch date earlier this summer, and now it’s actually here, just in time for the Halloween season.

05 The Demo Firehose

Buried under the headliners is the thing that actually defines this showcase: the demos. More new demos and playtests than any previous Triple-i show, and a lot of them are live now. Dandelion Void — a hardcore survival game from Project Zomboid modders — shadowdropped a demo. Militsioner has a playable demo. Pony Island 2, the next game from Inscryption creator Daniel Mullins, opened a public playtest. Isle Goblin, a goblincore survival-crafter backed by Fireshine Games and Pocketpair Publishing, is playable too. That’s the Triple-i formula working as intended: announce it, then let people touch it the same day.

The rest of the show filled in the 2027 calendar. Machinarium 2, the long-awaited sequel to Amanita Design’s 2009 adventure classic, was revealed. The Talos Principle 3 got gameplay footage — it’s the final entry in Croteam and Devolver Digital’s puzzle series. Risk of Rain 2’s Hallowed Concepts DLC is out now, adding new bosses, trials and challenges. Lazare’s Sacrifice is a narrative deckbuilder designed with Damien Monnier, the original Gwent designer, set during the French Revolution. Aftergods, from Norsfell — the Tribes of Midgard studio — is a top-down survivalite ARPG in a Ragnarök setting. And Escape the Backrooms is getting an “After Party” update.

06 Expedition 33's Crossover Moment

One quieter announcement deserves its own spotlight: Astral Ascent got a free update featuring characters from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — the game’s first crossover, and it’s available now. It’s a funny bit of timing. Expedition 33 leaves Game Pass on October 15, as we covered in our Game Pass wave story — and the same week, it shows up in another game entirely. For a game that joined Game Pass as a day-one release in April 2025 and won Game of the Year, this week is shaping up to be a victory lap: first crossover, and one last window to play it free on Game Pass before it goes.
