Battlefield 6 Hits Game Pass October 13 — and Season 5 Is Bringing a Destructible Las Vegas With It

Xbox revealed the October Wave 1 lineup: nine games from October 8 to 16, seven of them day-one indies, one very big shooter — and nine games leave the service on October 15, so check your backlog.

The Short Version

Xbox announced the first Game Pass wave for October 2026, and it is a genuinely stacked one: nine games landing between October 8 and October 16, seven of them day-one releases. The headline, as G2A reported, is Battlefield 6 joining Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on October 13 — the very same day Season 5 launches. EA’s shooter is not a launch title here, though: it released back in October 2025, so this is a catalog addition arriving exactly when the game enters its second year.

02 The Full Wave: Nine Games, Three Dates

Microsoft’s announcement, via Xbox Wire, lays out the schedule across three drop dates, according to G2A’s breakdown. October 8 brought Echo Weaver, a time-loop metroidvania; Forever Ago, a road-trip adventure; and Neon Abyss 2, a roguelike action platformer — the only one of the nine that also reaches Game Pass Premium. October 13 is the big day: Battlefield 6, Deep Dish Dungeon (dungeon survival with puzzle elements), and Valor Mortis, the first-person soulslike from One More Level, the Ghostrunner studio. October 15 adds Bluey’s Happy Snaps, a photo adventure with a second-player option, and Chained Beasts, a co-op gladiator roguelike for one to four players. Then October 16 closes the wave with Beyond These Stars, a PC-only city-builder set on a space whale.

Seven of the nine are day-one Game Pass releases — every title except Neon Abyss 2 and Battlefield 6, per G2A’s tally. And here’s the tier detail worth reading twice: all seven day-one titles are Ultimate and PC Game Pass only. TrueAchievements counted eight of the nine games limited to Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with only Neon Abyss 2 also reaching Premium, which matches Microsoft’s own listing. If you are on Premium, this wave is basically one roguelike.

03 Battlefield 6 + Season 5: Vegas Gets Destructible

October 13 is doing double duty: Battlefield 6 joins the service the same morning Season 5 goes live, and Season 5 is a big one. The season begins Battlefield 6’s second year and opens with two new maps: a destructible Las Vegas map — casinos, rooftops, city streets, all of it flattenable — and an Area 51-inspired military complex mixing open desert combat with underground tunnels, according to reports. The season also adds new weapons, vehicles, Platoons, multiplayer leaderboards, Rapid Royale, and Ranked Battle Royale.

The Vegas angle is hard to overstate if you live here. A major shooter opening its second year with a destructible recreation of your city is the kind of thing that gets people talking — and it lands on Game Pass the same day, which means every Ultimate subscriber is one download away from leveling the Strip. For the full breakdown of the season, read our Season 5 coverage.

There are some useful perks tucked into the deal, too. Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play benefits, and G2A reported that Battlefield 6 subscribers get the EA Play Deployment Pack, the Season 5 EA Play Pack, recurring seasonal rewards, and a 10 percent discount on eligible EA digital purchases. One more detail worth knowing: the game arrives just days before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — which, notably, is not coming to the service. Xbox is making its move first.

04 The Day-One Seven: Indie's Best Week in a While

The Battlefield headline is doing the heavy lifting, but the day-one lineup is arguably the better story. Valor Mortis might be the most intriguing game in the wave: a first-person soulslike from the Ghostrunner team set in the Napoleonic era, with Vincent Cassel voicing Napoleon. It was delayed from September 24 and now launches day-one into Game Pass on October 13 — including on the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, per the reports. A first-person soulslike from the studio that nailed first-person sword combat, playable on a handheld on day one, at no extra cost. That’s the pitch working exactly as intended.

The rest of the day-one slate covers a lot of ground: Echo Weaver’s time-loop metroidvania and Forever Ago’s road-trip adventure both landed October 8, Deep Dish Dungeon brings dungeon survival with puzzle elements on October 13, Bluey’s Happy Snaps gives younger players (and their co-pilot) a photo adventure on October 15, Chained Beasts does co-op gladiator roguelike for up to four players the same day, and Beyond These Stars closes things out October 16 with a PC-only city-builder on a space whale. 05 Nine Games Leave October 15 — Including Expedition 33

The other side of the ledger stings a little. Nine games leave Game Pass on October 15: Pacific Drive, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Evil West, Nova Roma, Superball, and The Casting of Frank Stone, according to Notebookcheck’s listing of Microsoft’s announcement.

The big one is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. It joined Game Pass as a day-one release in April 2025 and went on to win Game of the Year — and this week of all weeks, it’s everywhere: Astral Ascent just got its first-ever crossover update featuring Expedition 33 characters, as we covered in our Triple-i showcase story. If you’ve been meaning to play it, you now have days, not months. Microsoft typically offers member discounts on departing titles, so at least there’s a 20-percent-off exit ramp.

06 The Subscription Math Still Checks Out

Zoom out and the wave tells you everything about where Game Pass is in late 2026. A year-old blockbuster shooter lands the same day as its biggest content drop in a year, seven indies launch straight into the service, and the Premium tier gets one game out of nine. Microsoft is clearly treating Ultimate as the only tier that matters for the good stuff — Premium is increasingly the “you’ll get it eventually” tier, and waves like this one make that harder to ignore.

It also sets up an interesting October. Battlefield 6 on Game Pass October 13, Modern Warfare 4 arriving days later outside the service — the two biggest shooters of the season going head to head, one of them essentially free to a few dozen million subscribers. That’s the subscription model flexing in real time. Whatever you think of the tiers, this wave is the argument for the subscription: a year-old hit, seven launch-day games, and a destructible Las Vegas, all in eight days.
