Nobody has done what Usher and Chris Brown are doing in Atlanta this week. Five shows at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on one tour stop — November 5, 6, 8, 10 and 11 — is a record for the building, the stadium confirmed. Beyoncé held the mark before them, four shows on the Cowboy Carter Tour in 2025. The R&B Tour is the first to need a fifth.
It was not the plan. The Atlanta engagement started at two dates. Demand pushed it to five, and the November 6 and November 8 shows sold out before the run even opened. One date had to move to make the math work — the November 7 show was folded into November 6.
Night one ran late. Night two answered for it.
The record nearly got overshadowed by its own opening night. Thursday's show started roughly two and a half to three hours late, and the stadium's midnight curfew cut both headliners' sets short. Fans who had paid stadium prices for a half-show said so, loudly, and by Friday the talk online had turned into speculation about tension between the two singers. Chris Brown pushed back on that chatter publicly.
Friday ran closer to schedule, and Usher used the stage to talk about the city itself. Atlanta raised him, he told the crowd, and he would never not show up for it. Then the show made its own argument: Xscape, Monica and Muni Long all came out as surprise guests, and the two headliners shared the stage for the “Back to Sleep” and “It Depends” remixes — the joint stretch of the set the whole tour is built around.
Night three is tonight, Sunday, November 8. Two more follow on November 10 and 11, and then the record is either a story Atlanta tells for years or the standard the next stadium act has to beat.
The tour underneath the record
The R&B Tour — billed on the poster as Raymond & Brown — is the first joint tour the two have ever done, Usher's first headlining stadium tour, and Brown's second in a row. It opened June 26 in Denver at 33 dates and kept growing: 59 shows across 26 stadiums now, closing December 12 in Tampa, with Tank, Mario and Eric Bellinger holding down the intermission sets.
The money explains the extra dates. The tour grossed more than $101 million across its first eight shows, sold out its first 13, and moved over 566,000 tickets early. Usher and Brown became the first co-headliners ever to top Billboard's monthly touring chart, grossing $77.4 million in September alone. Detroit's Ford Field had never hosted a tour for three straight nights in nearly 25 years until this one did. Three shows at Northwest Stadium outside Washington drew more than 122,000 people. Atlanta is not an outlier on this run. It is the pattern, one city further.
Anderson .Paak and Cordae have a No. 1 now
Seven years of collaborations finally cashed in. Heavy Is the Crown, the joint album Anderson .Paak and Cordae released October 23, debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rap Albums chart — the first time either man has topped that list. Cordae's previous best there was No. 4 with From a Bird's Eye View in 2022. .Paak got to No. 3 in 2016 with Yes Lawd!, his NxWorries album with Knxwledge. Together, they went one better than both.
The shape of the week matters more than the rank. The album earned 30,000 equivalent album units in the October 23–29 tracking week, per Luminate — and 19,000 of those were straight album sales, against 11,000 from streaming. Fans bought this one. It opens at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 11 on the Billboard 200, and “Airbender” leads its songs at No. 21 on Hot Rap Songs with 2.4 million official U.S. streams — .Paak's first entry on that chart.
The Black Parade waited 20 years for this
My Chemical Romance have the No. 1 album in America, and the album is old enough to drink. The Black Parade jumped from No. 139 to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated November 7, powered by its 20th anniversary deluxe reissue — the band's first No. 1, arriving twenty years after the record first came out. Billboard says no album has ever waited longer to reach the top. The previous mark, 15 years and nine months for Toby Keith's 35 Biggest Hits, fell by more than four years.
In 2006 this album stopped at No. 2, beaten in its first week by the Hannah Montana soundtrack, 281,000 copies to 240,000. This time it earned 78,000 equivalent album units in the week ending October 29, and the split is the story: 68,000 were pure album sales, up 2,082%, and 42,000 of those were vinyl — the biggest vinyl week of the band's career. It is also, per Billboard, the first anniversary album ever to top the chart. Olivia Rodrigo's album sits at No. 2 behind it with 64,000 units.
The reissue, out October 23 on Reprise, pairs the original album with six bonus tracks — three B-sides and three songs recorded live at Maxwell's in Hoboken in October 2007, including “Someone Out There Loves You,” never officially released until now. And there may be more coming: at the band's October 30 Hollywood Bowl show, Gerard Way told the crowd they plan to make a new record next year, and probably play no shows while they do it.
Also out, also moving
Lil Baby, Fresh (out November 6). His fifth album, 17 tracks on Quality Control and Motown, kept deliberately tight on guests — Future, Young Thug and Rylo Rodriguez share one song, “All My Partnas.” The lead single “Dead Fresh,” produced by Pharrell Williams and first premiered during Louis Vuitton's Spring Summer 2027 show in Paris, peaked at No. 18 on the Hot 100. His last album, WHAM, debuted at No. 1. Whether Fresh makes it four straight studio No. 1s is next week's chart story. (Previously's Fresh story has the full record.)
Jodeci, on the road tonight. The Forever My Lady 35th Anniversary Tour — 35 cities, full original lineup — plays Indianapolis tonight at the Murat Theatre, on a run that opened November 4 in St. Louis and closes with a Charlotte homecoming December 19 and 20.
John Legend, Muse (out October 23). His eleventh album, produced entirely by Pharrell Williams, debuted at No. 36 on the Billboard 200 with 15,460 units — 13,000 of them pure sales — and No. 6 on Top R&B Albums.
