GTA VI Is Exactly One Month From Launch: The Final Countdown to November 19

Grand Theft Auto VI launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. With exactly one month to go, here are the editions, prices, preload date and the still-unanswered PC question.

The Short Version

Thirty days. After all the trailers, all the countdowns and all the times the date moved, that is what is left. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, and today — Monday, October 19 — marks exactly one month to go. TheGamer put the milestone plainly in its October 19 update: two delays and 13 years later, the game is finally about to launch. Indy100's GTA 6 live blog marked the same moment, noting that the countdown has hit a major milestone with just 30 days remaining until release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

This is the 30-day update to a story Previously has been tracking through the autumn. When we published our launch countdown and preload guide on October 13, the counter stood at 37 days and the practical questions — when can I download it, what does it cost, which box should I buy — were only starting to come into focus. A week later, most of those answers are locked in. What follows is everything a buyer actually needs to decide in the final month, and the one big question Rockstar still has not answered.

One month out: why this milestone feels different

Every previous milestone in this countdown came with an asterisk. The game was first pointed at 2025, then slipped, then slipped again — two delays in total, as TheGamer frames it — and each new date asked fans to believe it a little less. A 30-day marker is harder to argue with. The official launch trailer, the game's third trailer, arrived on October 15, five weeks before release, and a studio does not cut a launch trailer for a date it expects to move. Indy100, which has been live-blogging the countdown, described that October 15 video as the official launch trailer, and its arrival is the clearest signal yet that November 19 is the real date.

The wait behind the date is part of the story, too. Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013, which means the series has gone 13 years without a new mainline entry — a gap TheGamer puts at the front of its one-month coverage, and one few franchises have ever asked their audience to sit through. In that time Vice City has gone from setting to shorthand: players who were teenagers for GTA V are now deciding which edition to pre-order and whether to book November 19 and 20 off work. TheGamer, only half joking, suggested taking two days to turn launch into a four-day weekend. However you spend it, the calendar is now short enough to plan around.

The ratings picture has been settling in the final stretch as well. As we reported in our coverage of GTA VI's adults-only ratings in Japan and Korea, the game's classification story has been its own subplot on the road to launch — another sign of a release moving from announcement toward store shelves, even if, in this case, the shelf holds something slightly unusual, as the next section explains.

Editions, prices and what you actually get

The pricing is confirmed and, by current standards, steep. According to Teck Hustlers' breakdown of Take-Two's pre-order announcement, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 in the US and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. The Standard Edition is the full game. The Ultimate Edition, as Teck Hustlers summarizes it, adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel, activities and locations threaded through Jason and Lucia's story on top of that same game.

The useful detail for anyone torn between the two is that the decision is reversible. Teck Hustlers reports that Standard owners can upgrade later, with the Ultimate Edition Upgrade listed at $20 on the Xbox Store — exactly the difference between the two prices. There is no financial penalty for starting with Standard and deciding in December that you want the extra content, which takes most of the risk out of the cheaper option.

Two bonuses apply across both editions, and both have deadlines worth writing down. Anyone who buys the game before November 20 — pre-order or launch-day purchase — gets the Vintage Vice City Pack, per Teck Hustlers' breakdown. Digital pre-orders add one further extra: a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's membership service. If you were going to buy the game in its first day anyway, buying before November 20 costs nothing extra and keeps the pack; waiting past that date is the only way to lose it.

One physical-edition warning, because it still catches people out: boxed copies contain a download code, not a disc. Teck Hustlers states that plainly in its breakdown of Take-Two's announcement, and TheGamer says the same — there is no disc version, just a code in a box. A boxed copy is therefore a giftable object and a way to pay in a store, not a way to avoid the download. If your connection is slow, the format of the box will not save you; the preload window below is what matters.

Preload and launch day: the practical dates

Here is the final-month calendar, with every date confirmed across multiple outlets. Pre-orders are already open. Digital preloads go live on November 12 at midnight local time, a full week before launch — the date TheGamer lists in its October 19 update and Indy100 repeats in its live blog for both the Standard and Ultimate editions. Boxed copies go on sale the same day, November 12, so physical buyers can redeem their code and preload on the same schedule as digital buyers. Launch day itself is Thursday, November 19.

Preloading a week early is not a minor convenience for a game of this scale; it is the difference between playing on the 19th and watching a progress bar on the 19th. What we cannot tell you yet is the download size: Rockstar has not confirmed it, and reporting from GamingBible, cited in Teck Hustlers' breakdown, notes that exact regional unlock details and the download size remain unconfirmed. Anyone quoting you a precise file size today is guessing. The honest practical advice is simply to clear generous space on your console before November 12 and let the preload, whenever it lands that night, do the rest.

The launch trailer added one piece of platform confusion that is worth clearing up before it hardens into a rumor. The October 15 trailer is PS5-branded, carrying "Plays Best On PS5" marketing, with footage presented as captured on PlayStation 5. Windows Forum, in its coverage of the trailer, is explicit that this is marketing, not a schedule change: according to Take-Two Interactive's official release schedule and Rockstar's platform listings, the game remains confirmed for a simultaneous launch on both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on November 19. Xbox players are not waiting an extra day, an extra week or an extra anything. The logo on the trailer is a partnership; the date on the schedule is for both consoles.

The PC question

For PC players, the one-month milestone is someone else's party. No PC version of GTA VI has been announced — not for November 19, and not for any other date. The confirmed launch platforms remain PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, full stop.

There is, however, a report worth knowing about, provided it is labeled for exactly what it is. GamingBible reported on October 13 that the PC version could arrive much sooner than Rockstar's history would suggest — as early as the first quarter of 2027. That claim rests on a GamesBeat report citing four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all of whom asked to remain anonymous, and GamingBible itself urges readers to take it with a pinch of salt. Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment before that reporting was published, and nothing since has turned the claim into an announcement.

Context explains the skepticism. As GamingBible notes, GTA V took from 2013 to 2015 to reach PC, and Red Dead Redemption 2 took a little over a year, from 2018 to 2019. A Q1 2027 arrival would compress that familiar one-to-two-year gap into a matter of months. It is possible, it is reported, and it is unconfirmed — three things that can all be true at once. Until Rockstar announces a PC version, the only honest answer to "when is it coming to PC?" remains: nobody outside Rockstar knows.

What the final month looks like

So the last 30 days are mostly a buyer's checklist rather than a news watch. Decide your edition — remembering the $20 upgrade path makes Standard the low-risk start. Buy before November 20 if the Vintage Vice City Pack matters to you, and go digital if you want the free GTA+ month as well. Clear space on your console, preload on November 12, and keep Thursday, November 19 circled. If you play on Xbox, ignore the PS5 branding on the trailer; your launch is the same day. If you play on PC, watch for an actual Rockstar announcement rather than planning around a reported quarter.

What remains genuinely open is small but real: the confirmed download size, any final launch-week details Rockstar chooses to release, and that unresolved PC question. Everything else — the date, the platforms, the prices, the preload — is set, cross-checked and a month away. Thirteen years of waiting now fits inside a single page of the calendar. Previously will be counting down the rest of it with you, from the November 12 preload through launch day in Leonida.
