37 Days to Vice City: GTA VI’s Confirmed Countdown — Preload November 12, Launch November 19, and How to Dodge the Leaks

Rockstar has confirmed the essentials: GTA VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, preloads open November 12, Standard is $79.99 and Ultimate is $99.99. No PC version announced, no day-one Game Pass — and a leak wave worth muting.

The Short Version

  • Launch: Grand Theft Auto VI arrives Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, per Rockstar Games’ pre-order announcement (Business Wire via FinancialContent), corroborated by store listings reported by IGameMag.
  • Preload: digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12, 2026; the physical edition is a download code in a box and also goes on sale November 12 to support preloading (Rockstar announcement; Vice Dispatch).
  • Editions: Standard $79.99, Ultimate $99.99; all purchases before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+ (Rockstar announcement).
  • Not happening at launch: no PC version has been announced, and Take-Two’s Strauss Zelnick has ruled out day-one subscription launches for premium titles — so no day-one Game Pass (GamesIndustry.biz via Arcader; Sportskeeda).
  • Leak warning: roughly 25 minutes of unauthorized alleged footage surfaced in early October (GameSpot). Rockstar has not authenticated it — mute the keywords, download nothing, and stick to official footage.

Thirty-seven days. That is all that is left between this morning and Thursday, November 19, 2026, when Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The date, the platforms and the prices below come from Rockstar Games’ own pre-order announcement, carried by Business Wire and republished by FinancialContent, and they are corroborated by the PlayStation and Microsoft store listings described by IGameMag and others. What follows is the useful version of the countdown: what is confirmed, what is merely reported, and how to get to launch day without being spoiled or scammed on the way.

The confirmed core: date, platforms, editions, prices

Start with what Rockstar itself has said. In its pre-order announcement, Rockstar confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, following two delays from its original fall 2025 target and then a May 26, 2026 date — a timeline also laid out by NerdSnack in its release-date tracker. Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026. There are two main editions: the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, prices reported consistently by IGameMag, LatestLY and TalkEsport from Take-Two’s announcement. A separate upgrade lets Standard Edition owners move up to Ultimate later, according to IGameMag.

What does the extra $20 buy? Per Rockstar’s announcement, the Ultimate Edition layers an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons and apparel across Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos’s story. IGameMag’s breakdown adds reported specifics from the store listings: exclusive cars, a buggy, a boat, a motorbike and a kayak, personalized weapons, extra shops and a car-restoration commission — while stressing that both editions contain the same game and the same story. Every pre-order, and every purchase made before November 20, 2026, also includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, according to Rockstar’s announcement. DrawPie’s pre-order guide describes the pack’s contents from the store pages: a classic ’55 Vapid Stanier with its own garage, vintage outfits and hairstyles for both protagonists, and a tropical-pattern weapon finish, plus a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders. If you are buying for the bonus, that November 20 cutoff — not launch day itself — is the deadline that matters.

Preload day is November 12 — and physical is a code in a box

The second date to put in your calendar is November 12, 2026. Rockstar’s announcement states that digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading on November 12, a full week before launch, and the PlayStation Store describes the same benefit as a seven-day pre-load window, as Vice Dispatch detailed in its confirmation check. That week exists for a reason: Rockstar has not published a final install size, and IGameMag explicitly warns that file-size figures circulating online are unconfirmed. Clear generous space, use a wired connection if you can, and let the download finish on its own schedule instead of launch night’s.

The physical edition needs a special warning, because it is not what the box implies. Rockstar’s announcement confirms the boxed version contains a download code rather than a disc, and that it goes on sale starting November 12 specifically so boxed buyers can preload too. TalkEsport and DrawPie both underline the consequences: a code-in-box copy cannot be lent, resold or installed offline the way a disc can. That format choice is exactly the debate we covered in our story on Nintendo defending physical games — GTA VI is the biggest test yet of a boxed release that is really a download with packaging. Collectors who want something tangible should look at Rockstar’s separate merchandise line, which we covered in our look at the official Vice City Collection — noting that the collection does not include the game itself.

No PC version announced, and no day-one Game Pass

Two absences are confirmed by omission and by statement. First, PC: Rockstar has announced no PC version and no PC date. IGameMag and PokeIndie both state that plainly, and history explains the silence without filling it in — GTA V reached PC roughly 19 months after consoles, and Red Dead Redemption 2 about a year after, per IGameMag’s comparison. Any site selling you a PC key or a PC release date today is selling speculation, or worse. Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick, speaking to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier at the IICON conference as reported by Sportskeeda, explained the console-first approach as serving the core audience first; treat that as the company’s stated reasoning, not a promise about any future PC window.

Second, subscriptions: Zelnick has said Take-Two’s frontline premium titles do not go into subscription services day and date, a position reported by GamesIndustry.biz and summarized by Arcader — so there is no day-one Game Pass launch for GTA VI. That is settled context, separate from last week’s streaming story, which we covered when Xbox denied the GTA 6 streaming-exclusivity report. The practical translation for November 19 is simple: if you want to play at launch, you need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S and a purchased copy.

The leak wave: why the smart move is official footage only

The countdown’s ugliest subplot is the unauthorized footage that surfaced this month. GameSpot reported that the leaker known as Cyberleek released roughly 25 minutes of alleged gameplay and cutscene material in early October, after a quieter period following August’s clips. NME reported over the weekend that further alleged story details were circulating, with more threatened. GameSpot’s coverage is the model to follow here: it reported the existence of the leak without treating any of its contents as confirmed, and Rockstar has not authenticated the October footage. Development-build material — if that is what this is — can misrepresent the finished game as easily as it can spoil it, and some fans, as NME noted, believe parts of the latest material may be modded rather than genuine.

So here is the Previously survival kit for the next 37 days. Mute the obvious terms — “GTA 6 leak,” “Cyberleek” and “GTA 6 spoilers” — on X, and use YouTube’s “Not interested” and “Don’t recommend channel” on the first leak thumbnail you see, advice GTAIntel spelled out in its spoiler-avoidance guide. On Reddit, filter the same keywords and skip leak-focused communities until launch. Never download anything claiming to be a playable build, an early copy or leaked files: there is no playable GTA VI to download before November 12’s official preload, and security coverage of past leak waves has repeatedly warned that such archives are a known malware vector. Buy only through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store or an established retailer — the storefronts Rockstar’s own announcement lists. And if a deal looks impossibly cheap for the most anticipated game of the decade, it is not a deal.

Thirty-seven days is nothing after a thirteen-year wait since GTA V. The confirmed picture is clean: November 12 to preload, November 19 to play, $79.99 or $99.99, consoles only, bonuses locked in by November 20. Everything else — PC dates, file sizes, secret features pulled from unverified clips — is noise. Mute it, preload on the 12th, and let Vice City surprise you the way Rockstar intended.
