LOS ANGELES FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2026
Three years after Something to Give Each Other turned every summer playlist into a late-night dance floor, Troye Sivan is back with his fourth studio album, She’s the Best — out today. Thirteen tracks, 41 minutes and 55 seconds, released via his own Tokky’s Music imprint under exclusive licence to Interscope Records, with CD and vinyl editions sitting alongside the digital drop. And if the title sounds like a love letter to someone, that’s the trick: this is a record about wanting. About love, loneliness, and relationships — about the feeling of being surrounded by everyone and quietly holding out for one person.
02 The Painting and the Bombast
In the album’s press release, Troye Sivan described the record as a “painting” of his life “in all of its moods and colors,” adding: “There is this high-octane side to the album that feels really bombastic, and then there are the songs that feel like the interior of my mind.” It’s the cleanest description of a Troye Sivan album you could ask for, honestly — the guy has always lived in that tension between the strobe-light euphoria of the dance floor and the 4 a.m. voice-memo honesty of the bedroom. On this one he’s just saying it out loud.
The production bench tells you the scale of the ambition. Nine credited producers across the album: Jack Antonoff, Cirkut, George Daniel, Oscar Görres, Jasper Harris, Tyde Levi, Rob LFO, Sivan himself, and Styalz Fuego. Antonoff and Daniel are the headline names, and their fingerprints are exactly where you’d expect — Antonoff’s maximalist, heart-on-sleeve pop instincts, Daniel’s precision as a drummer-producer who understands that the space between beats is where desire lives. But the range of the credits is the point: this isn’t one lane of pop. It’s the bombastic side and the interior-mind side, trading tracks like songs on a playlist you made for someone you’re trying to impress and be honest with at the same time.

03 The Singles: A Nicole Kidman Video and a Night That Never Ends
The road to the album ran through two singles, and they’re both doing very different work. The lead single and title track, “She’s the Best,” arrived back on August 14 — co-written by Sivan with Jack Antonoff, Leland, George Daniel and Kaelyn Behr — and it came with a video that immediately told you the album rollout was playing at a different altitude. Gordon Von Steiner directed it, and it stars fellow Australian Nicole Kidman alongside Sasha Colby, the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Read that cast list again: Kidman and Colby, in a Troye Sivan video. The song is the lead for a reason — it’s the bombast side of the painting, all high-octane color.
Then there’s “Party,” the second single, released September 17. Sivan described wanting it to feel like a night spent moving between places — repetition that works on a dance floor. And that’s exactly what it is: the sound of the album’s own concept, a track built like a migration from one room to the next, the beat never quite letting you land. If the title track is the album’s public face, “Party” is its thesis statement — a night out as a place to feel lonely and hopeful at the same time, moving through the crowd like you’re looking for someone who might not even be there.

04 ‘Lost Time’ and the Boyfriend He Hasn’t Met Yet
But the song everyone’s going to be talking about is the one that closes the album. “Lost Time” ends She’s the Best with a spoken passage in French from Lily-Rose Depp — yes, really — and it’s the purest expression of the record’s whole idea. In an interview with NPR, Sivan explained that the song is about a boyfriend he hasn’t met yet. “Essentially a manifestation song,” he said. The song reveals halfway through: “hope to meet you one day.” And the title is about wanting to make up for lost time before they finally meet — staying home being creative together, living the quiet life in advance of the person you’re going to live it with.
Think about how bold that is as an album closer. After 40 minutes of dance floors and wanting and bombast, the record lands on a man singing to someone who doesn’t exist yet — and the French passage, whispered by Depp, makes it feel like a letter you found instead of a song you heard. It’s the interior-of-his-mind side of the painting, and it reframes everything before it: maybe the loneliness was never the problem. Maybe it was the rehearsal.
And it’s worth remembering this album didn’t arrive in a vacuum. Sivan’s 2026 has been one of the busiest and most sideways-interesting years in pop: a creative partnership with Penfolds wines on a holiday gifting collection, plus a Bumble “Bee Line” relationship-advice series alongside his sister Sage Mellet. The wine and the dating-advice content sound like tangents until you hear the album — a record about love, loneliness and relationships, from a pop star who spent the year literally working on love in every medium available. The painting has been in progress for a while. Today we finally see the whole thing.
