Before the stadium, before the arena, before the biggest events in sports started circling Inglewood on the calendar, there was a cardroom. Hollywood Park Casino opened its current building in September 2016 — the first new venue to open as the Hollywood Park redevelopment took shape — and this week it is celebrating 10 years in that home, the company announced Monday via PR Newswire. The anniversary celebration runs October 17–24, and it arrives at a moment when the neighborhood around the casino is preparing for a wave of global attention unlike anything in its history.
Hollywood Park Casino describes itself in the announcement as a 24-hour gaming and hospitality destination, offering poker, dining, lounges and private gatherings at 3883 W. Century Boulevard in Inglewood. Its pitch is location as much as gaming: the property sits within walking distance of both SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome, giving guests a place to extend a game day or a concert night beyond the main event — a pregame dinner, a few hands of poker, a private gathering — in a corridor that now revolves around event nights.
“A great entertainment district needs places people return to between its biggest events,” said Christopher Meany, executive managing director of Hollywood Park Casino Company, LLC, in the announcement. “Hollywood Park Casino was an early investment in that idea. Its next decade is an opportunity to welcome a broader audience while continuing to serve the people who come here every week.”
A business that moved so the stadium could arrive
The casino’s history in Inglewood runs well past the current building. The business was established in 1994, according to the company, and relocating the casino made room for the stadium development that reshaped the old Hollywood Park site while keeping the business operating. The replacement building is no small footprint: 110,000 square feet, at an investment management estimates at approximately $100 million, excluding real estate. Those figures are the company’s own estimates, stated in its announcement — Previously is attributing them as such, as is proper for numbers a reader cannot yet check against a public filing.
What is not in dispute is the sequence. When the current building opened in September 2016, the surrounding redevelopment was still a plan taking shape. SoFi Stadium — now home to the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers — opened in 2020 on the Hollywood Park site, and Intuit Dome, the Los Angeles Clippers’ arena, followed in 2024 nearby. The casino was there first, an early bet that the district would become what it has become: one of the densest sports and entertainment corridors in the country. Readers following that build-out can find more in Previously’s sports coverage and the day’s headlines in the news section.
Walking distance to the biggest calendar in sports
The next two years explain why the company is marking this anniversary loudly. SoFi Stadium will host The Big Game LXI — the Super Bowl — on February 14, 2027, according to the announcement. Then comes LA28: the company notes that the Olympic and Paralympic Games’ Inglewood zone will host swimming, basketball, the Olympic and Paralympic opening ceremonies and the Main Press Center. For a 24-hour business a short walk from those venues, event weeks of that scale mean a steady flow of visitors looking for somewhere to eat, gather and play before and after the main event — exactly the between-events role Meany describes.

The corridor is still growing. The 300-room Kali Hotel is under development at Hollywood Park and, according to the announcement, will add overnight accommodation to the area’s growing hospitality offering — a notable gap in a district that can fill a stadium and an arena on the same weekend but has historically sent most of those visitors elsewhere to sleep. A hotel next door to the venues, the casino and the district’s dining changes the math for fans planning a full weekend in Inglewood rather than a single event night.
The regulars come first, the company says
For all the talk of Super Bowls and Olympics, the anniversary messaging keeps returning to the weekly crowd. Maria Canchola, the casino’s director of marketing and communications, said in the announcement that the casino’s future starts with the people who have sustained it — its employees, its guests and the organizations it works with. “As Inglewood welcomes visitors from around the world, we want to build on those relationships, bringing people together in ways that benefit this community for years to come,” Canchola said. That is the balancing act the next decade sets up: a neighborhood cardroom with a 1994 lineage, now sitting inside a global-events district, trying to be both the regulars’ room and the visitors’ stop.
Anniversary programming continues through October 24, with an October 22 celebration featuring mentalist Jon Stetson, according to the company. Event details and promotion rules are posted at playhpc.com. Gaming and anniversary promotions are for guests 21 and older, and the company’s release carries the standard responsible-gaming note: for help, call 1-800-GAMBLER.
According to the announcement, Hollywood Park Casino is owned by Stockbridge Capital Group and operated by Hollywood Park Casino Company, LLC, the gambling-enterprise license holder. Ten years into the current building, its next decade opens with the loudest two-year run its neighborhood has ever hosted — a Super Bowl in February 2027 and an Olympics the following summer — and, if the company’s bet holds, a room full of regulars who were there before either one was on the calendar.
