Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 Brings Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on October 29

Eight games roll into the library between October 21 and November 3, headlined by Square Enix’s Midgar epic, a haunted Irish detective mystery and a day-one dino-horror debut — plus a late horror addition and a departure list worth clearing before Halloween ends.

Microsoft has set the second half of October for Xbox Game Pass, and the headline act is a big one. In an Xbox Wire announcement published October 20 and written by Megan Spurr, Senior Community Lead for Xbox Game Pass, the company confirmed eight games arriving between October 21 and November 3 across Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. The wave mixes one marquee role-playing game, a pair of day-one releases, an EA Play arrival and a run of smaller indies timed, fittingly, for the spookiest stretch of the year.

The headline act: a trip to Midgar

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives October 29 on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC, according to Xbox Wire, for Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass members. Square Enix's remake retells the opening stretch of the 1997 classic, following Cloud Strife and the Avalanche crew through the industrial city of Midgar up to their escape, with a combat system that blends real-time action with command-based decisions. GameSpot, which led its coverage with the announcement, called it a huge Final Fantasy adventure headlining the wave.

The Intergrade edition is the enhanced version of the remake, and per GameRant's coverage it includes Episode Intermission, the side chapter starring Yuffie Kisaragi. The timing is strategic: as Neowin noted in its report, the arrival gives subscribers a way to catch up on the first chapter of Square Enix's remake project as the trilogy moves toward its final entry. For anyone who has been waiting on the sidelines, a subscription download is about as low-risk an entry point as a long RPG gets.

The day-by-day rundown

The wave opens October 21 with Sandustry (Game Preview) on PC. The factory-automation game, built around fully destructible terrain and sprawling production chains, expands to Game Pass Premium, having already been available on Ultimate and PC Game Pass, according to TrueAchievements. On October 22, Dodo Duckie lands on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC — a reality-bending adventure starring a duck, available to Ultimate, Premium and PC members, per Xbox Wire.

October 26 brings the wave's first day-one release: Scramble Knights Online (Game Preview), an MMO-lite action-RPG launching straight into Game Pass for Ultimate and PC members on Cloud, Series X|S and PC, according to GameSpot's schedule. A day later, on October 27, The Séance of Blake Manor arrives for Ultimate, Premium and PC members. Xbox Wire describes it as a supernatural detective mystery set in Ireland in 1897, built around the disappearance of a young woman at a remote hotel — and it arrives with strong word of mouth from its PC release.

Vice, in its coverage of the wave, noted that the game carries very positive ratings from Steam players heading into its Game Pass debut — the kind of quiet indie success story that tends to find a second, much bigger audience once it lands in the library. It is also the wave's most natural Halloween-week pick that is not outright horror: a candlelit hotel, a missing guest and a séance gone wrong.

October 29 is the busiest day of the wave. Alongside Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Ultimate and PC members get Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted through EA Play — a high-definition return of the lawn-defense classic — and Terrible Lizards, a day-one release that GameSpot described as a horror-parkour game. Reporting on the announcement from Techtroduce also lists a late addition for the same day: Mouthwashing, the psychological horror game from Wrong Organ and Critical Reflex set aboard the stranded spacecraft Tulpar, joining for Ultimate, Premium and PC members. The wave then closes November 3 with Pit of Goblin, an online co-op horror game in which players take on the role of the goblins, per Xbox Wire.

What to finish before it leaves

Who gets what

The tier picture is mostly generous this wave. According to GameSpot's breakdown of the announcement, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Dodo Duckie, The Séance of Blake Manor and Pit of Goblin are all available across Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass, while Scramble Knights Online and Terrible Lizards are Ultimate and PC only. Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted arrives through EA Play, which means Ultimate and PC members get it as part of their existing subscriptions. Sandustry's move is a tier expansion rather than a new arrival — it was already playable on Ultimate and PC, and October 21 opens it up to Premium members on PC. In other words, Premium subscribers, who sometimes sit out the biggest drops, get the headline RPG this time as well as the mystery and the closer.

As always, arrivals mean departures. According to GameRant's roundup of the announcement, games leaving the service between October 31 and November 10 include Day of the Tentacle Remastered, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Deep Rock Galactic, with Football Manager 26 departing on November 10. Anyone midway through a Skywalker Saga collection run or a Deep Rock Galactic season with friends has about two weeks to wrap it up — or to pick the games up at the member discount before they rotate out.

A strong close to a busy month

Wave 2 caps an October that has already been one of the busiest months of the year for the service — see Previously's coverage of the latest Helldivers 2 update and the Monster Hunter Wilds demo for the rest of the month's gaming news — and it leans hard into the season: two horror titles, a séance mystery and a goblin co-op game all land within days of Halloween, while the month's biggest single addition is a blockbuster RPG for everyone who prefers their late-October nights in Midgar. The full schedule, tier by tier, is on Xbox Wire, and the first drop — Sandustry's Premium expansion — is already live. For everything else in the library, head to the Previously games hub.
